Both of Lou's Hercules flicks would be great for the show. The Sinbad movie he made around the same time broke my goofy meter.

Any Hercules is welcome Hercules . That movie could be The Legend of Hercules and I would be ecstatic.

Sounds like a great lineup, if the list is legit. But does anyone know if... the "Hercules" movie is something other than the Steve Reeves one they did on the original show? Could this be the Lou Ferrigno version from the 80's? I have a VERY strong feeling it is indeed the 80's Lou Ferrigno HERCULES. Several of the films on the list are from MGM, so I'd be surprised if it was any other version.
Plus... holy sh*t that would be one perfect movie for MST to riff on! I actually spent $20 to have Amazon send the MGM double-feature DVD to me when I was attending grad school in London in 2010 (think it had gone OOP by then). Hadn't seen the movies in years and the cost was totally worth it.
I need bear-punching jokes and I need them NOW.

Of all the movies, I think I'm most looking forward to Carnival Magic Have you watched the trailer for that one? It looks AWESOME(-ly bad!) Hope the list is legit. Doesn't spoil anything for me....it just makes me extra-eager to see the episodes!

If this lineup is true, I predicted one of the movies months back!

Last night I watched Ferrigno's Sinbad of the Seven Seas and it is unbelievable. Hercules looks like Citizen Kane compared to Sinbad.
Given that it's also a Cannon movie, I'd really like to see Sinbad in Season 12!

So now that we've had the official MST3K Netflix trailer released, and it confirms that Reptilicus, Starcrash, and Time Travelers are movies being featured in the new season, it more or less verifies that the rest of the leaked movie list is likely legit. My only question is: will they be watching the 1978 or 1999 version of Avalanche ? My guess (based mainly on my gut feeling) would be the 1999 version, but I'm kinda hoping for the 70's one. Seems like it would be the most fun as a standalone movie of the two, but they both look equally cheesy and ripe for riffing.

Why do you think the 90s version? The 70s version fits closer to the rest of the movies on the list. Plus a 70s disaster movie fits better into the MST3K style. I hope so because I love 70s disaster movies and always wished MST3K did more.

I just think it will be the 90's version because that one looks a lot more low-rent and features a no-name cast, while the 70's one actually has some star power and looks like it might be SLIGHTLY better-made (at least for the time). But I agree with you, I would love to see a 70's disaster movie riffed! Was thinking the 90's one might be easier to get rights-wise, too. . .however I just noticed that the 70's film was originally distributed by New World, which also distributed Starcrash , so maybe......

I find it's far more likely the 70's film. Joel's on record saying he wants films that look good in HD, and the 70's film certainly would while the 90's film is made for television. It's possible there might be an HD widescreen print, I doubt it would be as aesthetically useful to the new format.

Googling does bring up an HD blu-Ray for the 70's one, but all copies of the 90's one are SD. Okay, in that case I'm extra-happy we're going to get this riff!

I was thinking about starting a new thread, but instead dug this one up.
So, STILL SPOILER I GUESS,
Anyone who is an 85+ backer now knows that the list was correct. I'm personally thrilled. Way to go Joel! Movies that all look cheesy but not like trash. All with okay budgets. All should be fun to watch riffed.
And, for me anyway, this is the first time in MST3K history, I've actually seen 2 or 3 of these before. I don't know how to feel about that. On one hand, it means they've picked movies that are actually not so horrible that they're actually shown on TV. But, it also means that I lose that bit of awesomeness of discovering a new cheesy/cool movie.

Actually, even if you weren't a 085 backer or above, the titles are all clearly revealed on the VHX menu. You can't miss them. I backed just below 085 - sue me, I have a mortgage and a low-paying job, I gave what I could - but the episodes all appear on the play list, you just can't play them. So the cat's out of the bag if you happen to visit the VHX menu. No big deal for me, even though I tried to avoid the list for awhile. Oh well.

even though I tried to avoid the list for awhile. Oh well. I initially avoided the list, but then decided knowing what movies where there would help me get a mental picture of how much to anticipate or come to terms with the new season. Plus, I could look up the movies and get a feel for time periods, quality, appropriateness to watch with my kids, etc. I hate spoilers, but it turns out knowing the movies was okay with me.
