I'm looking forward to whatever the Friday surprise will be. Like most of you, I'm hoping that it will be the lost 3 KTMA episodes because if so, the fandom will finally have every single MST3K episode produced in some form or another. And if it is the KTMA episodes, maybe this could lead to some of the others being released as well, we can finally have them in watchable condition compared to the 4th or 5th generation copies we currently have. There is one question I have to ask. Was it Joel who came up with the possible idea of releasing the KTMA episodes, or were there people commenting on the kickstarter asking for them? And if it was fans asking, who were the first people asking? I'm wondering because in all of the excitement about new MST3K the kickstarter was generating at the time, we should be thankful to those who spoke up about possibly getting the oldest stuff released if it does turn out that Friday's surprise is KTMA goodness. Fans have been asking about KTMA releases for years, long before the Kickstarter or the MST3K revivial were even on Joel's radar. I'm sure Joel was well-aware of the fans' feelings on that matter before comments bubbled up in the Kickstarter comments.

Oh I know fans have been asking about it for years, but before the kickstarter launched and people were asking about it there, the idea of the KTMA episodes seeing a release seemed impossible due to Jim Mallon being in control of MST3K before the sale to Shout!Factory. Joel seemed like the best chance possible since it was him who took his own copy of the KTMA pilot to DragonCon and allowed a fan to make a camcorder recording of it, so Joel has always seemed like the one guy who was more open to the idea of the KTMA episodes being seen than the likes of Mallon, even if Joel does believe they are pretty tough to sit through and watch. And now with Shout!Factory being the guys in control of the MST3K library, the chances are better. What I meant was if nobody spoke up about the lost KTMAs getting a release during the kickstarter, would the possibility of those episode being released (if they are released at all this Friday) seem less likely compared to the idea of them being released due to those that did voice an opinion and hope to see them during the kickstarter? Afterall, Joel was very active during the kickstarter talking to and responding to fans that maybe because of it he realised more so that people wanted the unseen KTMA episodes as much as seeing new MST3K.

In my opinion? No. Again, KTMA episodes have been discussed for ages throughout the years. If it is indeed a KTMA episode or two coming out Friday (not saying it isn't, but there's certainly no guarantee), then it's something Shout and/or Joel probably had in the pipe deep in the Kickstarter planning stages, if not before. If anything, it was likely the years of buildup and slow-burning KTMA fascination by a large swath of fans that fueled their interest in a possible release for those episodes. Again, if Friday's episode is a KTMA, then really the question is probably best put to Joel. He's the one who would know.

Hey, if it's KTMA, I'll be thrilled. I'm not gonna plan on it being that, but I'll hope for the best while being willing to live with something less than that.
Still... it's kinda hard to predict what it could be if it's something that "every" fan would take an interest in. Like, I might be interested if some miracle had produced the MST3K Live episodes somehow, or if the MST3K Movie was suddenly being given to the backers, but neither of those feel "right" (even if we assume Joel has some ability to just "make it happen" with regards to those rights issues.) KTMA really feels like the thing to expect.
Worst case scenario, I get an episode I already have. And, well, that's not too bad.

Possibly with this special bonus, and the host segment disc on the upcoming box, SF is gauging how much actual interest there is in releasing the KTMA era. The host segment disc is a smart idea, as they don't have to pay any licensing fees, but leave the door open for future full episode releases.
Also, have any of the digital reward episodes from the Kickstarter been made available yet? I can find no reference on the Kickstarter site, and can't find any link in my old email.

10 of the classic digital episodes have been released. I got a separate email every time a new batch came out.

If it is KTMA, I don't care which ep it is, first, middle, last, I just hope it's not of a later riffed ep like a Gamera or Star Force. I LOVE all of the made for TV move eps like SST: Deathflight and City on Fire, but it would also be awesome if it was one of the Sci Fi ones or of course Mysterions or Invaders of the Deep.

I might be wrong, but I believe City on Fire was actually released in theaters. If it WAS made for TV, then it had damn good production value.

Many a tv movie was made with overseas theatrical release in mind. (This allows for a bigger budget as well.) Sometimes even extra scenes are shot just for a theatrical version. The miniseries Shogun is a good example of this. The European version is whittled down to around two hours, but has nudity and more graphic violence. It does appear that City On Fire was unleashed on U.S. movie screens in 1979 though.

Whether we get any KTMA or not, tomorrow might be the difinitive answer as to whether or not we'll ever see the first three episodes of the series.
Whether the answer is yes or no, I'm happy for the opportunity.

Well, this shows how illiterate I am with the streaming method. In anticipation of tomorrow I decided to peek into that streaming window, and what I get is a page that shows me the videos I was promised but every time I click on them it says "sorry, but that coupon has already been used." On the top of the page it's asking for my credit card number and a thousand dollars, which I don't understand being relevant to the free videos I should have received. I tried the "sign in" option, and as soon as I did it linked me to a bunch of MST videos it's asking me to buy, and not the ones I already have.
So this is a bit of a mess. I hope I get this sorted out by tomorrow.
Edit: Nevermind, I found the link I needed. It was in the upper corner of that screen I got when I signed in. Okay then, I should be all set if we receive the holy grail tomorrow.

So this is a bit of a mess. Not you. Their site isn't very good. I pulled it up through my browser history and first got the same thing you did--it telling me I already used the coupon. Looking around the screen, I saw that I was already logged in, so I went to the HOME page--where they were just trying to sell me stuff. So, I went to the BROWSE page--where they were just trying to sell me stuff. BUT, if when I looked closely, all the items had prices on them except one, the "Bonus Collection". Clicking that took me to the 10 movies and I could watch them. That's not a very good UI at all. The actual streamer didn't work very well for me either--very choppy--so I'll probably just download through it and watch it from my PC.

So the reward is 2 out of 3 of the missing KTMA episodes, Invaders From the Deep and Revenge from the Mysterons from Mars. Awesome!

I'm bummed they haven't found Star Force yet, but if we were only to get two out of three, I'm glad they were the ones that weren't a repeat movie in season 3. I was greatly looking forward to the KTMA Star Force, since the reriff is one of my favorites, but I'm happy we even got these at all. Plus, I'm sure it will be shared if unearthed. That said, even if the new season sucks beans, I'm considering THIS what I forked over two hundred dollars for. And I am satisfied.
