Amazing!!!
It's been a while since I've logged in here, but I just had to come back to share how EXCITING it is to finally get to see these early episodes!!! From Joel:
I just knew I was reading him right when he talked about sharing the "earliest episodes" during the campaign. Of course, I was told at the time by the "fans" over at Satellite News and elsewhere that he couldn't possibly mean the lost KTMA shows, that he must have been talking about the early Season 1 shows, and that to assume otherwise was unwarranted speculation. Yet here they are, and I'm so eager to finally see them!
BIG BIG thanks to Joel and to Shout Factory for making this possible!

Well, holy sh*t. Even though a lot of people were calling it, I'm still stunned. Flat-out stunned.
Sounds like K03 may still be AWOL. Maybe forever at this point. But this reveal is too good to not celebrate. Incredible.

Since they've actually acquired the rights to these episodes it'd be nice if they were included as bonus features (much like how a disc with Mitchell/Brain That Wouldn't Die was a bonus on once) on a DVD set.

Yes! Even though I personally have little interest in watching the KTMAs, I'm glad that these have been found and made available to some people.

At least we know those host segments won't be missing from the upcoming set. If it took them that long to find K01/02, then surely 03 is just a matter of time. I mean, how the heck did BB label their boxes? Very very cool news. Thanks Joel.

But this reveal is too good to not celebrate. Incredible. I'm not sure if K03 is missing. When Jim Mallon was posting KTMA clips on the old website, he included clips of K03 in there and it's a safe bet in order to do that he had to have the first three episodes converted to digital. So there should be a digital copy of K03 out there somewhere. Maybe Joel hasn't included it here because the bundle was for 12 episodes and K01 and K02 bring that total to 12.

I'm pretty sure that at the end of the Kickstarter Joel mentioned he was going to throw in some surprise rewards with the bundle that didn't add to the episode count, so I'm certain these episodes aren't a part of the twelve.

That's certainly a possibility, good call. I was going by the fact Joel said he had found master tapes of "two of the three lost episodes," which to me implied he doesn't have a master tape of KO3. If Jim did have it at one point and converted it to digital (or duplicated it, whatever), that's certainly reason for hope. Or it may be in another box somewhere. I'm guessing there is more material in the old Best Brains archive than just the KTMA masters, so there's always a chance.

Well hot damn, this is a pleasant surprise! I'm not too crazy about the KTMAs either, but I recognize those first eps are the Holy Grail for diehard MSTies, so it's great that they've finally been released! I'll check them out later out of curiosity.
