I still don't know why post-production on 14 episodes took/will take 4+ months, considering they wrapped shooting in mid-October.

A 44 minute TV show usually takes a week to 10 days for post-production. MST3K episodes are twice that long. Plus, the holidays fall in there, and Netflix has its own quality control period (I hear it takes about a month).

Also doesn't Joel work at a company in Pennsylvania? I vaguely recall reading that somewhere. Unless he's given up that job, I assume he has to fit the revival around his own work requirements. It's going to happen when it happens.
In fact, isn't looking forward to stuff a big part of the pleasure of life? I forget who it was that said that the actual travel itself was not as exciting as the looking forward to it.

I assume he still does that but I'm not sure how much it really divides his time. Seems like that would be something he could work on anywhere. Then again, what the hell do I know?

Don't really recall, but you may be right in this day and age about him being able to do the work anywhere. I didn't mean to suggest he had to be in PA to do it, just that I recalled his doing work for a brick and mortar company.

That Chicago screening is tempting, but given I have already given $250 to the project I don't know if I can spend an additional $110 for the premiere – even if it comes with some bonus goodies and a chance to see the new cast in person (via the Q&A).

The rewards update says our digital downloads should be available "no later" than the season premiere. This could mean we could receive the season before it debuts on Netflix or simutaniously. I'm betting on the latter (though the first episode could be earlier).

I'm betting we'll get access to the digital copies within 24 hours of the show being available on Netflix. They added a little reminder that Netflix views will help determine if they get picked up for a new season, so they obviously do want people to try to check it out there anyway (as well as keep people from file-sharing). Perhaps we can at least have the first episode a little bit earlier. It's going to be rough avoiding spoilers from anyone who goes to the premiers, and my internet speed probably won't let me enjoy the live-stream. Of course, who knows what this would have effected. "I've got to say, I was a little disappointed when I saw that the links have been posted online, and in at least one internet magazine. If I wanted everyone to have those links, I could have posted them on Facebook or Twitter, but those were just meant for you. There's a lot of neat stuff that I've been saving to share with you over the next few months, and I always want to be able to tell you as much as I can. But you know, if I can't count on everyone to keep the private stuff from these updates just between us, I don't know if I'll feel as comfortable sharing it with you in future." There's always a few that ruin the fun for the rest of us.

Facebook and twitter are not everyones bread and butter. Even though there are millions of users there are many more millions not using them.

Well, Netflix just announced a slate of new and returning shows premiering between this month and October, and still no premier date set for Season 11.

It's all up to whenever Joel delivers the episodes to Netflix. Which he has a "hard deadline" of Feb 14. After that, Netflix has a hard 30-day reviewing period. And then, it's up to whenever they want to schedule it. So the ABSOLUTE earliest it's being released is on March 17.
But Netflix has 2 big premieres already on March 17 and March 24.
I'd wager on March 31.

That's probably about as solid a guess as we can get, and even that feels a little generous.
Then again, I'm so used to MST3K having anew episode being an impossibility that anything feels pretty good time-wise.

So the red carpet premieres are happening tonight! I think skyroniter and maybe a few others on the board are going, looking forward to what they say about it.

So amazing to think a few lucky people tonight are getting to see a new episode of MST3K. As much as I want information to slip, I do hope they'll honor the agreements.
I'm considering starting my free trial with Netflix next week. I want to be paying for it once the new season is up.
