Well the first actor to play the Doctor had been dead for nearly a decade at that point, so unless you wanted them to do some grave robbing. Tom Baker didn't want to come back, as he had left the role barely two years before. All you see of him is actually footage of a "lost" episode that was never actually finished because of a strike at the BBC. They had recast a role and ignored another and then sold a product based on the involvement of both, which is nonsense. The recasting I understand at the very least, but when you can't get two out of five you need to cut your losses and either do three doctors or just do a regular episode with one doctor.

It will take someone more into Dr. Who than I am to say whether or not fans felt ripped off back in 1983, and wrote strongly worded letters to the BBC. I liked it.

All you see of him is actually footage of a "lost" episode that was never actually finished because of a strike at the BBC. The early years of the show are well worth checking out. Many missing stories have been recovered over the years, and those with episodes still missing have been completed using animation paired up with the audio tracks recorded off air by devoted fans back in the 1960's. A lot of the DVD's are out of print and expensive ebay fodder these days unfortunately. and now he is dead and someone else is going to play the First Doctor (the actor who played William Hartnell in the TV movie about the creation of the show).

On the other hand, it looks as if Rifftrax put their copies of the Doctor Who movies they've done in the past back up. I nabbed those really quick. Just in case.

I'll keep that in mind since i missed those at first. I noticed they took down their riff of The Wizard(The Fred Savage one) too but glad I got that one when it was available.

This is awesome, except I downloaded them from a torrent about a year ago and Paypaled RiffTrax some money. But now I want to have it in my account for streaming. I wonder if I could convince them to add it based on the donation I made earlier?

Dann, they took The Wizard down? That's another one I don't have, and the NES kid inside me kinda wanted to see it too.
Maybe I'll luck out and it'll be only temporary, like the Who movies. But that might just be wishful thinking.

to bad. i do hope they decide to do more Doctor Who. this one would be a good one: could see someone saying "lets Weng Chiang tonight." From what I understand, it'll be released as a VOD in the UK, since they didn't get to see the live show. However, due to rights issues, it'll only be released as a "jokes only" audio track in the U.S., for synching up with the Special Edition DVD. At least, that's what I heard; can anyone confirm this?I just hope they'll give it another showing via Fathom, but with a re-do of the safety short.
