I loved loved LOVED the interaction between Trace and Frank on the show and so I'm pleased as punch (as Edith Prickley might say) that these two guys are back performing together. I love their podcast, "Movie Sign with the Mads" (with the adorable Carolina Hidalgo) and I see that they also are doing riffing at live events, called "The Mads are Back." It's often (always?) at Alamo Drafthouse theaters.
Of course Mike was head writer but I suspect that these two were big contributors of jokes to every ep they were involved with, and I'm expecting the show in my area to be super fun. But the Alamo website does not say what they are riffing. Anyone been to one of these shows? What are they like?

Bump.
I just went to see The Mads in Danbury, CT. It was Frank's dad's hometown. (TV's Frank's Dad's Son?, Son of TV's Frank's Dad?). I liked the way they did it: They were actually sitting in the audience with us, just riffing from their seats. Don't know if they do it that way all the time or not.
They sold some merchandise and signed same before the show, then had a Q&A session after the movie, then did more autographs and pictures after the show.
Good crowd, and everyone enjoyed it. They're doing another show tomorrow in Boston (?) I think. The movie they did was "The Tingler". (It was a surprise until showtime). If anyone remembers or heard about that way back when, it was a movie that when it ran in the theaters, random seats were rigged to give a mild shock. It stars Vincent Price, a coroner and scientist who is trying to discover if there is an actual physical being present in humans that makes the spine tingle when one is frightened. I don't think I am giving anything away here for the Boston show, as I believe they are doing a different movie for that.
Really fun, stupid, goofy movie. I can't recall too many of the jokes right now (I really hate when that happens) but when the creature - which turns out to be a real phenomenon, apparently - goes into a movie theater and goes into the projection room, it's silhouette can be seen on the movie screen. I know they've done these types of jokes before, but Trace said, "A silhouette on a movie screen? That's f*cking stupid.", which got a lot of laughs.
I got a picture of them that I had them sign and I got a couple of their books, Trace's Silly Rhymes for Belligerent Children and Frank's Twenty Five Mystery Science Theater 3000 Films That Changed My Life In No Way Whatsoever. I saw another one that he wrote after I had gotten that one and I should've gotten that one instead. (Frank, I mean). It was called Codename: D.O.U.C.H.B.A.G. Now, that sounds like a fun read. Oh, well. Maybe I'll order it sometime.
Anyway, it was funny and I had a good time.

BTW: During the Q&A someone asked them if they will be in the new season of MST3K and Frank said: "No. It's done and we weren't there." He added: "So, unless they digitally inserted us..." And Trace said: "Don't say 'digitally insert'". (A little levity to go with the bad news).

I was at the Boston show a few weeks ago, they riffed GLEN OR GLENDA, and it was splendid! I can't get enough of Trace & Frank, they put on a great show. I hope they come back to New England soon, I'm dying to see the rest of the films they've riffed!

I was at the same show Travis was, and they did a REALLY great job riffing on Glenn or Glenda. (It was also my first exposure to the movie).
Some of the political jokes they came up with really had me dying.
Oh, and getting to meet them in person was such a treat. Both wonderful guys.
