In the '70s I saw Chuck Berry at the State Fair. It was an outdoor venue and before the show a guy told me Chuck was parked in a Cadillac behind the stage. I walked over and asked for his autograph. He was in the drivers seat and a woman was next to him. I had a receipt in my pocket for a tuxedo rental for my brothers wedding and he signed the back of it and drew a little smiley face. I later covered it in clear mylar so it would last and it's still in my wallet to this day.
By all accounts he was kind of an asshole to deal with but he was polite to me that evening. I wish I would have asked to shake his hand but I just took the receipt and thanked him and left.
Johnny B. Goode has left the building.

One of the best. I thought he'd last until at least 100.
