I really liked this one a lot. I keep saying that each episode is better than the last one...and this one is no exception!
The riffing continues to improve. Less cramming in lines, more conversational riffing. Callbacks to earlier riffs. The Invention Exchange was pretty weak, though. I HATE, post-production stuff. Like those stupid bubbles. And the smoke coming out of the cannon is no exception. Just use real smoke!
The parade sketch had me laughing out loud.
They're obviously building up to something with Jonah's spacesuit.
More laser-cut woodworks...sure wish we could ZOOM IN on them! This is a MOTION PICTURE! As Servo once said.
But, still, very good episode, compared to the rest of the season. Up there with 1104.

"You got a dinosaur in my western film. You got a western in my dinosaur movie".
What a weird combination that was. Crow's Peru/Mexico joke and Tom's response was a funny bit, especially if you think of it as a joke about Americans and our ignorance of geography (South= Mexico). I'm glad we got the full 14 episodes, as they seem to be settling in as we go on.

This episode is a personal favorite as it's the one I got to write on. No bigger thrill than hearing some of your jokes make the cut.

STELLAR episode! Things are really starting to gel. So great to see one of the few dinosaur westerns get the MST treatment.
It must be said that Patton Oswalt IS TV's Son of TV's Frank. I can't think of anyone who could do the part justice like he does. I really hope they find a way to give Trace & Frank cameos in a future season.

I had similar problems with this one that I have with Godzilla vs. Megalon. It's fairly decent to good for most of the episode until the final theater segment, which is hilarious. It's overall underwhelming, but it ends on a high.
Great host segments though.

This was another really strong episode, like the one before it the riffing has found that sweet spot and are paced really well. I find the cast have really found a nice groove and everything is starting to seem that bit more confident. While I can't vouch for the rest of the series knowing that they weren't shot in order, it does make me feel the series is in good hands and has a promising future ahead of it!
The movie itself too was a bit of an odd bird. It a rather cliche western that markets itself as a monster flick, yet doesn't up till the end of the movie. More ironic is the fact the movie itself completely derails when the Dinosaur shows up, with some subpar (even at the time) stop motion and some really clumsily effects editing.
All in all another great episode and a further reminder of why this show deserves to be back!

Okay so I binged the first four episodes and really enjoyed them all and then I watched 1105 and felt like I hit the first speedbump. I just didn't think this episode was that great. No LOL moments like the others. I'm wondering if I'm suffering from "too much, too soon". Watched 1106 after this and found it marginally funnier but you know what? I found I was missing Joel,Mike,Trace,Frank,Kevin and Bill. So I think I'll cool it for now and watch one a week from now on......and patiently await news on the next set of MST3k "classic".

After a couple of experiments that I found enjoyable if unspectacular - The Time Travelers and Avalanche - The Beast Of Hollow Mountain is the second high point to me in the first five (Cry Wilderness being the other). Either the new crew is settling in or I am adjusting to them - or, more likely, a combination of the two.
There's also a good deal of nostalgia as The Beast Of Hollow Mountain used to pop up a lot on late night television when I was a kid and what kid doesn't dig a cowboys/dinosaur mash-up (even if this one isn't as much fun as The Valley Of Gwangi).
So far I'm very much enjoying season 11.

While this isn't my favorite episode of the season, the final movie segment is probably my favorite individual movie segment in the entire show. And the final host segment is also probably my favorite host segment in the show. I love how many skits are about monster and dinosaur movies in this season.

I tried 1103 the Time Travelers, and I think I can count the number of times I laughed on one hand. So I quit on it half way through and switched to this.
If 1102 lost some momentum (for me) down the stretch, 1105 does the opposite and becomes inspired in its final half hour. Before that it was okay, I got a few giggles here and there -- and then a woman walks on screen and (someone?) riffs... “Buster Keaton was into drag?”
After that it was like the comedy floodgates were opened wide (as a Buster fanatic that line made me howl. And I kept laughing every time she popped on screen because she really did look like a female Keaton)
That final -laugh filled- 30 minutes saved the ep for me. It probably helped that we FINALLY got to see the beast (but what, no Tor Johnson quip? even after opening the door for one in one instance).

I think you and Hampton may get along, based on his Facebook profile pic. (Either that or he's just really good at spotting Buster Keaton look-alikes.) Hampton's FB Page

I'm really looking forward to this episode, but my 3DS Netflix app is glitchy, and it replaced the audio with a static noise! It did a similar thing with an episode of Friends, but instead making a high-pitched beep throughout the whole thing. I hope it doesn't do this to any other episodes, not being able to hear it is killing me!

The host segments were amazing! Felt like classic MST3k! I agree with the others who said the last theater segment was the best. I wasn't a fan of the movie, but once the goofy stop-motion dinosaur shows up (FINALLY) it props up the whole episode.

2nd viewing last night. This episode is one of my favorites of the season, that works on all three levels (fun movie, great riffing, and fun host segments). I think I tried to watch Beast once before. I was warned ahead of time that the dinosaur doesn't appear until the last act, and it honestly works out pretty fine (Jaws does it better though) but in comparison the first half of the movie can be quite the snoozer. But it does have bare enough going on to carry interest if you'd care enough to follow it. The riffing was hysterical. But for me, it was at it's prime during the last movie segment. The stop motion movements for the dinosaur are so ridiculous, I laughed every time they made a joke surrounding it. Heck, that whole moment of the movie was ridicolous. A great batch of host segments too. The invention exchange was fun, and I like the extra touch of character Kinga got into. The bots describing their monster movies (and showing just how silly or serious they could be) made me grin. I loved how scared Jonah and the Mads get when the bots are dancing the ceremony, it's just a little insane moment. But ultimately the final host segment may be my favorite in the entire show, simply because I do often wonder what a movie would be like if it had a dinosaur in it...
9/10, couldn't tell it apart from some of the better classic episodes.
