Okay, that dinosaur came in wayyyyyy too late! And the stop motion was incredibly cheap!
Riffing was spot-on in this one! I liked the callback to Eegah, as well as some of the music references like Who Let the Dogs Out and Eye of the Tiger, along with the Scooby Doo joke at the end and the King of the Hill joke ("That's my purse! I don't know you!").
The host segments in this one were.... kinda weird. But my favorite one was the fashion show. Overall, great episode, and it looks like they're getting more comfortable with riffing and not cramming everything together.

How I never saw this turkey on tv as a kid I'll never know. Valley Of Gwangi this is not! The original Land Of The Lost tv series had better stop motion. Everybody freaking out over Tom and Crow's dancing in the masks is an instant classic. The fashion show harks back to the Comedy Central days. And just when I was wondering if they would do any dark riffs...that was a little too dark!

Now that I've slept on it a bit, it's hard to believe this was even based on a Willis O'Brien idea. The dinosaur aspect seems so tacked on. You could plug a rogue Grizzly bear or an escaped circus lion into the script, and it would be 90% unchanged. None of the characters are given screen time to even discuss the creature, or how it remained unseen so long within riding distance of the town. Ray Harryhausen must have laughed his butt off at the tongue business alone.

So Señor Jerkface.... is a jerkface, but Dom Patriarch is okay with his daughter marrying him.
Señor Jerkface.... is a jerkface, but Senorita Chestorita is going to marry him anyway.
Señor Jerkface doesn't like Mister Gringo, but even more than that, he wants his ranch.
Señor Jerkface sticks Mister Gringo's cattle in mud to make people scared of the mountain.
But people should be scared of the mountain because there's a monster!
But the monster isn't responsible for cattle being stuck in the mud.
So Señor Jerkface's machinations have nothing to do with there being a monster, and never did anything against the monster. Let's hope he's okay with dying without dramatic irony!
Mister Gringo decides to skip town so he won't be C-teased by Chestorita anymore...and tells his partner that that should make Señor Jerkface happy.
But Señor Jerkface still wants the ranch! So Gringo's partner will still have to deal with a Jerkface in his life, and now will have to do it alone. Mister Gringo es loco en la capeza!
.....bad movies are bad is what I'm saying.
I was hoping Mister Gringo would make Jerkface pay for all the spoiled merchandise in the bazaar.
I haven't finished the season, but my favorite sketch by far is the fashion show. Just hilarious and superb. The sashaying of the bots....
Also, that is not Claymation™, as either Tom or Servo says, nor even clay animation untrademarked by Will Vinton Studios. It is stop-motion animation using the same techniques as King Kong or Harryhausen--- using an armature with a foam latex skin (just not executed nearly as well of course). No clay involved in the animation. (pushes glasses back up nose) Interesting that in 1106 they correctly refer to the robots as stop-motion.

Parade host segment, last quarter of the movie were highlights. A fun one, all in all. Nice to see a 50s movie mixed in. Couple random thoughts: Half the cast is also in The Black Scorpion, which was made around the same time. Does anyone else keep thinking of Trey Parker when listening to Hampton?

This episode is easily one of the best of the season. The riffing was very funny and consistent throughout and had me laughing out loud quite a bit. The parade host segment was equally as funny as the riffing and has to be ranked up there with some of the best segments from the show's original cable run.

This was a good one, I thought.
The movie starts out like a typical Western, with all the typical Western trappings. It's very reminiscent of "Last of the Wild Horses", actually. Makes you wonder why go with the whole Beast thing, anyway. Still, the movie wasn't too bad, and it was nice that they actually made it in Mexico, rather than the backlot. And at least the kid didn't go full Kenny towards the Beast.
I thought the riffing was funny and well-paced. I liked the host segments a lot. The opening was a pleasant reminder of those art class ads in TV Guide and the MN art institute commercials they'd run during the original show's run. I thought the masked dancer segment was funny (Max's reaction was very much in the Frank style), and I think the new version of "My Dinner with Andre" was certainly worth making. Just make sure it gets run at a drive-in.

“But, the cowboy didn’t like him so he shot him in the faaace!” I wonder if that was a reference to the mondegreen “But his bosses didn’t like him so THEY SHOT HIM IN HIS FACE” that some people hear.
Yeah, like Avalanche, the riffing doesn’t pick up until the disaster shows up. And, like Crow I too was disappointed that the beast was just a dinosaur. I like how throughout the movie they make jokes about the characters using things like Uber, Linked In, septic tanks, but then a joke comes up about bubble gum, and they have to clarify that bubble gum wasn’t invented yet. Weird.
You know, Kinga’s invention is actually kinda useful…..
I loved the part where the boy kicks the rock away, and Jonah reacts as through the rock got kicked in his direction.

I just re-watched this episode and really do love it. The riffing is excellent, and the fashion show/parade segments are some of the funniest of the whole season.

After viewing them all several times over the past few months, this ep is one of my favorites. For me, it really helps that the film itself is reasonably watchable on its own merits--beautiful locations, decent actors, a plot that you can follow. I didn't care that the monster was lame and made us wait for the whole picture--that's what most of them did back then, so that's part of the nostalgia for me.
I've had a hard time enjoying the space/fantasy eps "Starcrash" and "Wizards" I and II, because they are just SO INCREDIBLY lame and cheesy that it becomes a distraction for me. They make "Deathstalker" and "Space Mutiny" look like Warner Classics.

"Forgive me. When a man is in love, he is not... not himself. Crow: He is another, stupider man."
Quoted for truth.
