So, Pearl doesn't like her granddaughter either? That woman just can't be pleased. I haven't gone through all the eps yet, but Kinga doesn't seem all that "evil" to me. She needs to ramp it up a notch. And TV's Son of TV's Frank just doesn't look like a "Max" to me. He needs a different name. (I know, too late). I'm liking the show so far, but with all those people on Moon 13 or whatever it's called, doesn't give it the same homey feel of the older episodes. Are we ever getting an explanation for the skeleton crew and bone heads or whatever the hell they are? (Like I said, I haven't finished the eps, so maybe down the line they say something). Fave line of this one: Dear Great Pumpkin: Everyone's cray-cray. - Crow [Edit: Servo] (At least I THINK he said Great Pumpkin, didn't hear it that good).

I do miss when the Mads would get right up close to the camera in extreme close-up and yell at Joel/Mike, though. It's like Kinga is playing it a little too timid for an evil person.

Yeah the "lull distraction" that the new series is doing is kind of annoying.
Pearl, Brain Guy, and Observer's cameo was pretty cool. But, yeah it seemed forced, and didn't really go anywhere, but from what I hear, they'll be back in another episode.
BTW, that particular host segment, I think that one, and the "Magic Voice chats with the narrator" segment from Season 5's The Atomic Brain are the only two to not feature the main SOL cast.
Some funny riffs in this one.
"How is it the bobcat is out of focus, but everything else isn't?"
"Red Hawk got Afterlife Alert!"
"Roasted Morgan, anyone?"
"Did M.C. Escher design this set?"
(after the kid tells Bigfoot to leave) "BIGFOOT COME BACK! HELP ME!" Crow (as Bigfoot): "Um, I'm getting some mixed signals, kid."
"Maybe Bigfoot didn't say dad was in great danger. Maybe he said dad was a *great ranger*."
BTW, I love how the movie is essentially a self-fulfilling prophecy.
So, Synthia is a clone of Pearl. I should have figured that out given that her actress resembles Mary Jo Pehl a bit.

I really liked this one, too. Most of the reviews I saw were pretty negative, so I don't know, maybe I'm just at the right age to enjoy the modern references?
The cameo segment was pretty weird, though. Bobo's costume was terrible! It was so distracting. However, Observer did look pretty great.
To be honest, I thought that references to the original's running gags would sound odd and forced, but the "Rowsdower" joke was actually quite funny. This really does feel like a good continuation.
I hate sounding optimistic. This is the only time I've ever felt like this. The show has faults, of course, but I love it so much that I sound like a naive moron.

Kinga seems more interested in making a buck off the experiments. Whatever happened to ruling the world?

Sat down with this one again last night. While I did enjoy the riffing the first time, the movie was a bit too much of a slog. It wasn't too hard to get through another viewing of it tho. I've never heard of Cry Wilderness before MST. The movie is ridicolous, but not ridicolous enough to make it interesting. None of the characters are good, yet somehow they're not typical. I couldn't imagine them in any movie but this. I also liked the tone of the movie, it's a bit uneven yet its kind of dark with some eerie pieces of music. The riffing is pretty great, but I probably didn't laugh as many times as my first viewing, but there were plenty of jokes that I did miss. It's enough to keep me amused through a rewatch, otherwise it probably needs time to freshen up. The host segments were alright for the most part. The invention exchanges weren't too inspiring this time. The bit with the raccoons was cute, but didn't lead up to anything. Jonah trying to explain the movie was also fun, but I imagine the little brown figures look better in person than on camera. The highlight of the episode is the first return appearance of Pearl, Bobo, and Brain Guy. While the set and make-up makes it feel very cheap, it doesn't feel like it's been 18 years since this group played these characters. A blast from the past. The final segment brought back that relationship Dr. F and Frank had, even if only slightly. The Mads need a bit of improvement, but this showed me that they could pull it off if they would try to go into that direction more.
I give this episode 8/10, the movie isn't easy to sit through but the riffing makes it amusing enough.

So, Pearl doesn't like her granddaughter either? That woman just can't be pleased. The interpretation I got was she feels it'd be too awkward to be in the same room as her granddaughter because, well, she did essentially kill Kinga's father, and is avoiding her for that reason. Keep in mind, i haven't seen any other episodes beyond 1102, so i don't know if that's actually the case, or if it gets brought up.

I think Pearl is just uncomfortable with the concept of "love," especially an unconditional family love which she doesn't seem to understand. It's a sort of "yes, we're family but why does that mean I have to care about you?"
I think she's shown "love" to three things during the series, one was Frank, which was a "BFF girlfriend and gossip" affection, while the other two were Howard the hunk and George Clooney, and that's a different kind of love altogether.

Another pretty funny episode! My favorite jokes were definitely the ones involving the Walking Dead and the Muppet Movie joke (Hey! Wait, you guys! I wanna go to Hollywood, too!).
My only complaints were the host segments seemed a little short in this one, but I loved the trio of Pearl, Brain Guy and Bobo making guest appearances and the last segment felt like a real callback to the original series.

What a terrible movie... Bigfoot is hardly featured, the story makes absolutely no sense, and for a story apparently aimed at children (?) ends with the villian having his eyes gouged out. Some pretty funny riffing, I especially liked "maybe we should have spent more time controlling the animal population last year" as they walk through the forest surrounded by random animals.
As others mentioned, the brief moment where the crew is visible in the theater is very weird, especially since Crow appears to react to it and then the crew member disappears. Why was this left in? If this is an editing error it's a big oversight.
The return of Pearl and crew didn't excite me and the segment appeared a little phoned-in, I never really liked Pearl that much even though I started watching the show in the Sci-Fi era. Having watched the older episodes I now prefer the Mads, although I don't like the Invention Exchange which is back... I guess MST3K fans are a picky bunch! I can say that what I don't like is insignificant compared to what I do like: solid writing, appealing cast, great movie choices so far.

Better than Episode 1 (Reptilicus)! This movie was so mind-boggling, I had to stop an hour in and watch it from the beginning with my family. You NEED to watch this movie with company just to confirm that you aren't hallucinating. There were so many hilariously awful moments that the riffing hardly mattered. We were laughing just at what was happening on-screen.
And there are SO MANY laugh-worthy moments in this movie. The tunnel... Jim and the bear... Mr. Big-Game Hunter... The tiger... The sudden appearance (and disappearance) of snow... I mean wow. The most amazing part about this movie is that nobody EVER behaves like a rational human being. I was constantly in awe of the stupidity.
The riffing, meanwhile, was good. Less manic than Episode 1, which was good. And the host segments were good enough for the original show.
I do think they missed an opportunity with the bikers. They name-dropped Wallace Shawn, but I wanted an "INCONCEIVABLE!" to go along with it. Oh well. Also, they could have been harsher on this movie. Joel's approach is obviously less biting than Mike's, but some movies really have it coming...
Rankings so far: 1- Cry Wilderness 2- Reptilicus

Again, I haven't read the other comments yet.
As for the movie, I agree with those who say this has a "Pod People" feel about it. It seems like a family-friendly, "Wonderful World of Disney" Sunday night movie, then somebody dies terribly. This one, at least, has a lower body count (I think). And the kid doesn't reach psycho Kenny levels of defending Bigfoot at the cost of lives. And I liked all of the cute animals that seem to not want to hurt each other (except for the visiting tiger and the deer). On the other hand, the geography is just too strange. Apparently, the climate and season changes on a dime in this forest. And how did the kid get from anti-Hogwarts to the forest in less than a day, on his own, with no baggage or money? And I shall refrain from commenting on the acting, directing and the Cokerampant Cokeproduct Cokeplacement. As for Morgan the villain, let's just put him on the "most loathsome" list right now.
The episode was great. I'm still working on differentiating the voices, but the riffs seem better-paced than last week. The host segments were good, and I particularly liked Crow-as-raccoon playfully hammering on the propane tank. It's was a nice callback to see the 'bots try and trick Max into handing over the keys. And I really liked seeing Pearl, Observer & Bobo show up. It was a funny segment that looked kind of like an evil version of Joel's appearance in "Soultaker".
We're definitely on a roll here, I think.
