Spoilers maybe?
I figured this is an all encompassing aspect to the season, and an important one to longtime fans, it might be worthy of its own thread.
So, a new season means a new intro! I'm sure this was probably the first aspect to the season that many fans were most interested in seeing. I know it was what I most wanted to see after that 1101 premiere. I don't think it is a spoiler to discuss how 1101 handled it. From what I gather, 1101 is the only time we see the events actually unfold. There is a whole setup, with Gizmonic employees and Kinga's plot to lure Jonah in. We hear the full theme, but with a few breaks and some dialogue over the lyrics.
1102 onwards thankfully features a more traditional intro with a few twists. We have cold opens now, and the intro is now - in the context of the show - recreated each episode (since Kinga's liquid technology cannot record past events). Jonah is actually sat inside his parked ship at the moon base and we see him acting out in front of a simulation of 1101's events. From what I can tell, 1102 onwards is a different take of Jonah bringing the ship in (he fiddles with some switches above his head and talks less, unlike in 1101). Before the simulation starts, we see a note telling Jonah to "have fun with it" and when he is brought into the base his ship is actually already parked and the simulation ends. The rest is the same as 1101, however there are three differences in each episode onwards. The theater clips are from the episode's movie, and the ending bit of Jonah and the bots appearing is new each episode. Also, the show number illuminates the dark side of the moon, revealing the logo, which I assume is what Jonah and the bots are turning to look at.
All in all, it's actually quite an elaborate way to open each show! I found it weird at first, but the concept is growing on me.
I liked seeing some older lyrics returning, like "Next Sunday, A.D." and working at Gizmonic Institute. I miss the "la la la"'s and each bot spitting out a catchphrase, and I don't like the brief pause in the song when Jonah is in the ship. It worked in 1101, but they could have removed it in 1102 onwards.
Anyway, thoughts?
