And if I hear one more person brush off criticisms about how they made the show, their performances, etc. with "Its just a show, you should...", I'm going to scream. It's just a show and you should really just relax. And I encourage everyone to say this. Just note everyone, admins are watching. Keep it friendly.

How soon people forget Crow's arms actually worked in Season One. Are you referring to the barber sketch? That and there other instances of Crow moving his arms more. (Pointing at something out the SOL window, or taking Joel by the hand.) I think the claws opened and closed back then. The control rods coming out of his elbows were noticeable at times, and probably required a second puppeteer. (Unless Trace secretly grew a third arm.) I don't blame them for simplifying things from season 2 onward. I guess we won't have any "arms don't work" jokes in the new era.

The episodes have been hit or miss for me, but I'm enjoying it overall. The Wizards of the Lost Kingdom II (Electric Boogaloo) felt to me the most in spirit like the old show. The riffs didn't seem to be as speedy or overdone, they seemed to breathe more, and the timing was better, and I laughed quite a bit at both the ridiculousness of the movie and the riffing. Gypsy is not working for me at all. Nor is the Skeleton Crew. It should just be Kinga and Max on the moon with maybe a couple of boneheads ala Jerry and Sylvia. There's no homey feeling to Moon 13. I know, it's a new show, new age, but... I need that comfort food that was MST3K TOS. This is microwaved meatloaf. But, I do like it more than I DISlike it. And I have laughed quite a bit during a few of the episodes. I'm just now trying to get through The Christmas That Almost Wasn't. It's a terrible movie that even riffing can't save for the most part. Did like the re-gifter gift idea. Hated that (I think it was called) Carnival Magic (??) But loved Mark Hamill's cameo. He's awesome. (My cousin had that stuffed chimp with the banana that they had in one scene). A lot of the songs are pretty good. Mostly positive for this, though they need to step back and let us know these characters better.

Generally, I'm quite enjoying the new season. If I may gripe about one thing that bums me out about the overly-scripted quality of the riffs, it's that I miss when the guys used to simply just *laugh* at something goofy on screen. It made things feel organic, like the guys really were watching the movie for the first time along with us. Here, EVERYTHING gets a riff. Sure, they are often funny riffs, but just a natural chuckle (no accompanying riff!) at a particularly silly moment now and then would be welcome.

I'm SO glad you pointed this out-about how the guys would just simply *laugh* at something goofy on screen. How it seemed more organic, like the guys really were watching the movie for the first time, etc.

The episodes were not shot consecutively so there is no actual natural progression. Anything you are noticing in that regard is coincidental, unfortunately.

They were probably, however, edited consecutively. So the editor, in fact, is the one who got better at his job of placing the comments over the visuals.

Not only that, but the assumption that just because they were not shot consecutively there is therefore no progression is just that, an assumption and not necessarily true. There may be a deliberate attempt to write in a progression by changing the riff rate/content/style for different episodes. I am certainly not saying that's what happened, but at the moment we don't know. Count me in as someone who sees a difference in some of the later episodes than the earlier ones and it is certainly believable that Joel understands these things and is deliberately constructing the episodes to that end. Also count me in as someone who is quite happy to believe the whole thing is random and there is no progression, I don't really care, I'm enjoying the new MST3K whatever.

...I hear that Jonah has stated that although the host segments were filmed out of order the movies were riffed in sequence. If true, that would be a much simpler reason for why a progression is being noticed by a number of people than my 'Joel as master manipulator' theory. Pity, I was quite proud of it.

Okay having now finally seen every episode this season I will say I was satisfied with the end result, even though I do think there is still room from improvement but the good far outweighed the bad. I do hope the amend some of the issues like the flat direction and dull SOL set next season. I think the show got the most important part right which is the heart of MST3K, while things like Cinematic Titanic, Rifftrax, The Film Crew and a number of imitators have been fun.....they weren't MST3K, and that's what this was!
While there were some rough edges, I feel we got a solid batch of episodes. While it has IMO one of the worst episodes MST3K has ever done with "The Land that Time Forgot", we also got an instant classic "Wizards of the Lost Kingdom" that for me ranks as one of the shows best! All in all I'm very happy with how this season turned out and hope the show has a long and successful future!

Well I just finally finished MST3K season 11. Yep, I frickin’ loved it!
Honestly it was just as good as I hoped it would be. Nearly everything worked for me. Sure there are still some minor quibbles like I’ve said before (another one being some frame rate “jiddering” issues in some movies which I found distracting), but I really can’t complain! I feel like I’ve already gotten to know Jonah, Hampton, Baron, Felica, Patton, etc. really well and I like ‘em already. And if you ask me I think they’re gonna do a great job as the new cast, though the familiar faces popping up now and then were quite comforting. What I especially like is how it still doesn’t take itself that seriously, and more importantly it’s still really dang funny. That was one heck of a finale too, I wonder how it’s gonna be addressed in the next season. Speaking of which we NEED a new season and soon! Really wanna see where this revival goes, plus maybe they can iron some of the kinks out as well.
Some of my personal fave episodes were Cry Wilderness, Avalanche, Starcrash, The Land That Time Forgot, Yongary, and At The Earth’s Core.
Really, I’m just so frickin happy my favorite thing ever is back and I can’t wait to see more of it! =) I’d say the Kickstarter campaign was a huge success and was absolutely worth it. Thank you based Joel. Bring on season 12, 13, 14, and so on!!!

One thing that I found nice to see on Twitter is the amount of positive feedback I've seen seeing about this new season, I really hope this is a strong indication that we'll be getting more in the near future!

After binge watching my way through the new season three times already, I feel it's safe to say I'm in love with the new MST3K. Despite the entirely new cast, new writers, and the passing of time, the show's heart and soul are still intact, and in my humble opinion the show's just as funny as it always was. Watching that first new episode after nearly two decades without was an almost surreal but joyous experience for me, and my enjoyment continued to grow with each episode after. I was amazed how quickly I got used to the new voices, even Gypsy who for all intents and purposes is an almost entirely new character from her earlier portrayals. I was so unsure whether I'd grow to like the new her, then she made my favorite riff of episode 2 and I couldn't help but like her again.
I do have constructive nitpicks about the revival, but mostly things everyone else has already complained about. I wish Crow's eyes moved more seeing how they were the most expressive part of the Crow puppet, and I hope that in future seasons that the puppeteers get better at taking advantage of that. And I also wish they'd gone a little more wild with the SOL bridge set. The set they went with looks good from that one dead-on angle, but therein lies the problem; it ONLY looks good from that one single angle because that's clearly all it was designed for. There's no hexfield viewscreen or windows looking out into space, or any reason to occasionally shoot more from the side to show off more of the set like they did in the original run, and that saddens me a little. Maybe next season they'll expand the set a little more to make it feel a little less cheap, but if not, eh, it's something I can live with (it is, at the very least, infinitely better than the Season 1 set). Considering all the major ways things could have gone horribly wrong this season, I feel lucky that my complaints are so minor and don't detract much from my enjoyment of what was overall a very, very good season.
With all that said, there better damn well be a Season 12 next year. If we've finally been given more MST3K like we wanted only for it to be taken away again, I'm going to cry. I missed my favorite show, and now that I have it back I don't want to have to let go.

I hate the new episodes. It's not funny. I think the problem is the new guys. They're not funny.
