Netflix usually, on average, takes 8-9 weeks (sometimes shorter) to officially renew shows. This coming Friday will be 11 weeks since the show premiered. Netflix has been on a cancellation kick recently, and doesn't look to be slowing down.
Plus, the timing of the tour (around the time the show should be renewed, when they'd have to get back into the studio and get back to work), makes me think Joel and Co. aren't entirely optimistic about their chances for renewal.
What do you think?

Netflix just announced the cancellation of Girlboss after one season. It premiered the week after MST3K, so I expect we'll hear news soon.
I don't know that the tour is a bad sign. It seems like it's a way to keep the cast and writers engaged and busy. Why do that if there wasn't going to be another season? Plus, when I talked to Baron Vaughn last November, he told me then there would be a live tour this year. So it's safe to say it's been in the works for a while.

I wonder if MST3K is more likely to be an every-now-and-again thing for Netflix, and not necessarily something that has consistent seasons.

One thing to remember is that the kickstarter campaign funded most if not all of the production costs, and netflix was just the distributor for season 11.

I don't do doomsaying topics. I find it a nonsensical waste of time.
That said, I have 14 more episode of MST than I ever thought I'd get (16 including the bonus KTMAs). I'd like to see it continue, but I have better things to do than doom and gloom about it. Netflix can do whatever the he'll it wants, I'll just be living my life in the meantime.

I would love to see a new season, but at the same time I'm not going to get my hopes up. If the show doesn't get renewed on Netflix, do you think there's a possibility they could just release new episodes independently, much like Rifftrax?

Speculation is that Netflix would have announced by now if there will be a second season, though last thing I heard from Joel was that it looked good. Perhaps they will announce something at the end of the live tour? If it's a yes, it would be a fun announcement at last show. If it's no, then waiting on the announcement wouldn't cloud the live tour. On the other hand, would knowing the show was cancelled actually help ticket sales being that it could be the last opportunity to see the show? Or maybe Shout will have the renewal announcement at Comic-Con in 10 days. May have to diagram all this out and consult either C-3PO or K-2SO regarding probability.

I think it'll be announced at the Con. I can understand Joel and Shout having more say over what is announced and when, as opposed to other Netflix series where Netflix announces things their way.

As long as Netflix doesn't announce a cancellation, I don't see it as a bad sign yet.

They fact the show hasn't gotten a pink slip yet is enough reason to not assume the worst just yet......though I do understand it's frustrating to hear nothing so far! I know I have been on and off looking to see if new episodes have been annouced, it would be nice to know soon though.....I won't lie!

If NetFlix *does* decide to renew for another season, I wonder how many episodes we'll get? I'd be down for getting only 7 or so episodes in Season 12 if it meant they could spend more time on each episode (i.e. - Record everyone riffing together in the theater instead of piece-meal).

Okay, so here's the thing--as others have mentioned already, this isn't really a NetFlix show. WE the Kickstarter backers fully funded Season 11. NetFlix just agreed to show it. Does that mean there wasn't any money involved? I don't know, I'm sure Joel just didn't give NetFlix his show for free. But again, this isn't really NetFlix' show. It's Joel's and Shout!'s, so I don't really think it's NetFlix place to announce any type of cancellation. I guess they could announce that they're not paying for a Season 12, but that would be a silly thing to do. It looks like the two have a very friendly relationship, even shooting all those cute/funny promos.
So, my guess is somewhere in the middle where no, NetFlix hasn't announced a cancellation, but then they probably never will as it's not really their show to cancel. Meanwhile, Joel has been all about the MST3K revival for years now and I doubt he's just going to hang up the hat because NetFlix is balking at fully paying for a Season 12, with easy proof being the live show.
I'm going to guess that after the live show is over, some time this fall--probably around Turkey Day--Joel will announce the next phase, which will be anything from NetFlix signing for a new season, to Shout and Joel making a new Season with their own profits from Season 11 with NetFlix maybe kicking in some money to still be the initial streamer, or even the start of another Kickstarter for the next Season. I know I'd pay more money for another season, although probably not as much. But then, theoretically they wouldn't need as much from backer for the next season, as there has to be profits coming in from Season 11 and the live show that they will reinvest into the show.
No matter how you look at it though, you just have to look at the attitude of Joel and the rest of the new cast and crew to know that they're not done with this thing yet.

Joel said on WTF that they got a licensing fee from Netflix of about $100,000 per episode.
There's going to be a panel at Comic Con, I'm betting on news there.
