I was at a live show in August and, if I remember right, Joel said things were looking good and that Netflix had until the end of August to get negotiations done. Not sure what exactly that all meant. But odd that deadline passed with no word, then Sept. passed. There's a point where getting everyone back together may not be doable. I think we all had hopes that the second season would be when everyone would be able to breath and not put out such a rushed product, although I did enjoy that product. This is looking more and more like its a show on the cusp and if it is renewed, funding will be limited, hence we would get another rushed product trying to coordinate a bunch of busy careers. Perhaps that is better than nothing. After all, there are so many more great movies out there for riffing and Rifftrax has become too PG-13 to R-ish for me. I still watch and laugh, but I'm cringing more and more.

I suppose it's possible that the reason the show never got renewed is because the cast couldn't figure out or agree on a time-frame to get back together. It could be that most of them are one-and-done because of their various schedules, thus rendering it impossible for Netflix to renew it. That's just a guess on my part. Everything at this point is pure speculation.

Netflix is really dumb for not renewing the show already. It should have been renewed back in May I think Amazon Video would be the next best choice since they have a lot of RiffTrax shows on there. I heard there was some interest from the Syfy Channel for Season 11 as well Sci Fi is getting Futurama next month, which had been airing on Comedy Central for several years now. I'm probably reading way too much into that though.

So has Netflix ever renewed a show for another season and not announced it? It's not something I follow much as the only Netflix originals I watch are mst3k, trailer park boys.
Or... Could they be holding off any announcements till turkey day?

They’ve renewed shows and not announced it immediately. That was the case with Stranger Things, which was renewed before it premiered, but that wasn’t announced until about a month later.

This is 100% true. I happen to know that a certain Netflix show has already been renewed, though it hasn't been announced publicly yet. It's not MST3K before anybody gets excited.

Assuming the show does happen to get renewed sometime this year, the question then becomes, "how long do we have to wait for the new season to debut? Spring 2019?"

I haven't checked in in awhile and just did now. I'm still not in that much of a worry mode. And I still think there are many ways for Joel to get another season out without Netflix.
Having said all that, I think the big obvious date at this point is Turkey Day. They've been doing the new ones now for what 3 or 4 years? I'm sure they'll have one this year regardless of how well Season 11 is doing seeing as how Shout half owns MST3K now. And seeing how it is only about 5 weeks away at this point I expect an announcement about it any day.
Now, if we get to Turkey Day and there is no announcement of a Season 12 being funded or the start of a Season 12 kickstarter... Well, then we are in trouble.

The blessing and curse of Netflix is that we don't have to adhere to a set schedule for year by year releases. That can be... problematic in some sense. However, it also means there isn't really a "rush" the way there might be for shows on Network TV. I'm happy with the outlook, I think.

While I doubt were should be at panic stations just yet, it is a little worrying that there's been nothing yet. However I'm not going to jump to any conclusions just yet.....still it would be nice to have some assurances about the show's future!

Man, you just have to look at all the merchandise they've started up in the last couple months to think there's no way Joel, Shout!, and the rest are gonna let this just end.

I'd really like to see another live tour next summer... the live show was insanely funny and the chemistry was superior to the majority of the new season. I'm sure they learned a lot from that experience and the eventual season 12 will very likely knock it out of the park.

Arrested Development had quite a long wait between an announcement of a new season, and like AD, MST3K season 12 would rely on several schedules coming together. So I'm not too worried.

My cousin's daughter went to the live show in D.C. and she said Joel had said that they really had a good experience with and great feedback from the live shows and that they were hoping to do more.
