my dream movie for season 12, would actually be an hour and 15 minute episode of the Virginian which starred Doug McClure and guest starred Troy Donahue. That would be glorious. Not only that. Clu Gulager was a semi-regular if not regular on that series. I believe David Hartman was as well. From mushy nose wheel to mushy wagon wheel. That would be epic.

On the comments section of the Kickstarter page, Ivan Askwith, who helped run the campaign and was an executive producer on the new season, says that there will hopefully be some sort of announcement made about the next season in the next few weeks, saying they have to wait until they have legal clearance before they can share it. No word on the nature of the announcement. Also, they will shoot the new season in the summer.

Another quick bit of news: Jonah Ray revealed on his Twitter that they have started recording the riffs for the new season.

This bodes well for a Q4 2018 (Turkey Day?) release for the new season.

Rant incoming!
I hope the actors' lines are recorded separately in their own booths, then placed over the visuals of the theater segments via ADR, therefore not syncing up correctly to the film or to the mouths of the puppets, because the haphazard process of applying the commentary track involves taking 3 separate commentary tracks, chopping them down, speeding them up slightly and splicing them together to fit into the brief spots between dialogue of the film in what I'm sure is a time consuming and labor-intensive editing process. Instead of just shooting the theater segments "live" with the actors in the same room as the puppets while the film runs, not even necessary under them, just present simultaneously.
That was my favorite part of the last season.

BTW, they are shooting, or maybe already have finished shooting, Season 12. Patton Oswalt was on Gilbert Godfried's podcast a week or so ago, and said they were shooting "next week". And who knows how long ago they recorded the podcast.

At Frank and Trace's London show last night they were asked if they were in the next season. They said it had already finished shooting but they hadn't been able to make their schedules work in order to make an appearance.

Hey wow cool updates! I'm really surprised after ALL of the "MST3K fans are SOO important, this is what MST3K is, we wouldn't be here without you" stuff we heard during the kickstarter campaign, that I'm not hearing anything about this from KS or anywhere really except from the pro MST3K stalkers on this forum.

Since the new season was not funded with KS, I don't see why they would feel obligated to use that platform to give updates. Jonah Ray and Patton Oswalt have given updates about it on either their social media platforms or podcast appearances.

It’s always fun when people are figuring out for the first time the process of how Netflix makes shows. I guess another thing I should have mentioned is that Ivan said that since Netflix is involved, they have to go through an approval process before they can share anything, which is not unusual. They shared a bunch of preproduction stuff before the Netflix deal was announced and they only had one post about shooting the show, which happened a few months after the deal was finalized. We'll see the fruits of their labor soon enough.

Meh. It seems to me that for every cool thing Netflix does they do an equally obnoxious thing.

Y'all think they will make the episode count bigger or have it around the same?
