Like episodes per season? I’m betting 10 episodes.

Let's go for the gold and say anything other than 30 episodes is a missed opportunity.

I think they should aim for 10, no more than 12. Preferably 8. I think the biggest problem last season was they were victims of their own success: had too many episodes to shoot in too short a time, and quality suffered because of it.

Am I the only huge Mystery Science fan who is still stubbornly refusing to acknowledge season 11, and continuing to re-watch the classic episodes ? I was really hoping that, against logical thought, they would hit it out of the park, but it seems like for every post that says it's quite good, there is one that says how disappointing it is. I would be much more excited for a release of 2-3 unreleased episodes, that for 2-3 entire new seasons of new MST3K, Cinematic Titanic, Rifftrax, or any other "artificial sweetener" substitute...

I still haven't made it through all of Season 11, stalling big time after having watched Starcrash and currently in limbo after Youngary.
In that same time since its release I've probably chosen to watch ~25-30 original episodes instead. Might not be fair to the new show to constantly remind myself of how good those hand-picked originals were by watching them side-by-side that way but Season 11 just isn't very good so far for me. I like a couple of episodes, and it's mostly well put together, but the execution seems rushed and is impossible to ignore. Too many riffs fall flat and work to kill any momentum built which is incredibly annoying.
Overall, the humor and delivery in the originals were the biggest reasons I loved the show and both are now too different if not totally lacking from the reboots. I have hope that they tackle this and make the appropriate changes towards the positive for Season 12 but I'm not seeing much progress while slowly trudging through this second half of Season 11.
Now I must balance that criticism by saying at least 2 nice things:
1 - Patton Oswald is a bright spot and his presence is absolutely necessary 2 - Other than Joel Hodgson I don't think anybody else could do as well as Jonah Ray

The Monolith Monsters (1957) With the Short: "Mylar, What’s It To You?”
Its a film about killer space rocks...and the Mylar
short is some unfinished business from the past.
The Giant Behemoth (1959) A stop motion Kaiju film...Yes Please!
The Food of the Gods (1976) Well...they did Village of the Giants so why not?
It! The Terror from Beyond Space (1958) This one would give them plenty to work with...
Kingdom of the Spiders (1977) Spiders & Shatner...Sounds great to me...
Night of the Lepus (1972) Again...it would be like some unfinished business... even though RiffTrax already it.
Empire of The Ants (1977) Its another Bert I. Gordon film...in color...with awful effects...
Inframan (1975) Please, Please, Please! Princess Dragon Mom!
The Green Slime (1968) Finally...
2019, After the Fall of New York (1983) An Italian Escape from New York mockbuster...
Arena (1989) Its modern, in color & corny as hell...
The People That Time Forgot (1977) Finishes off the "Conner/Burroughs trilogy"
That's 12...but if they are only going for 10... then drop Night of the Lepus & the Food of the Gods.

The Mads have done The Monolith Monsters, not that it has to be an impediment.

Apparently Shout hasn't been able to find a theatrical print of Arena. When they put together an Empire Pictures Blu-Ray set last year, they had to include the existing fullscreen DVD as original plans had them including it in HD.
So that's probably out... unfortunate because that would be PERFECT for MST3k.

"Good news! 8 fewer episodes!" That's what latest kickstarter update sez in plain language. Okay, they put it like this:
"The next season of Mystery Science Theater 3000 will be SIX EPISODES long, and written to encourage binge viewing!"
Which is pretty good spin.
Hate to see the glass as half full, but, well, it's actually 3/7ths full.
In it Joel says that 14 two-hour shows is a lot to binge.
So? Is that really a problem? Do people not watch a show because it might take them more than one session to finish it?
"Hmm, couldn't finish the entire season tonight, so I guess I won't watch any of it." I don't think that happens.
Wouldn't three nights of binging be just as good for the viewing numbers as one? Maybe even better?
Okay, bitching over for the moment. I'm happy we're getting something....

I'm happy we're getting something.... A lot of it has to do with the Netflix model. According to their statistics, people tend to watch only one show at a time on their platform before moving on to another, so that's why they push the concept of binge watching. I'm not going to pretend that I understand it, but that's how they operate and it looks like it has mostly worked out for them. I'm hoping that the smaller episode count will allow them to shoot them at a more thoughtful pace and won't necessitate them to combine takes through bubble technology.

Nice...
Well...I'd still like to see it featured on a MST3K episode...or even a RiffTrax.
Being in Australia I'll never get a chance to see any of these smaller "Riff Shows"
