I loved this episode (I loved pretty much the whole Gauntlet), but with this episode more than any other the reduced runtime bothered me. They shortened the McDonald's scene! That's even worse than removing the best scene from Wizards of the Lost Kingdom 2!

The total, cheerful whoring of Coca Cola (now cures aliens!) was definitely the standout of this film. One thing that truly shocked me: the aliens brought the kid back to life, but didn't fix his legs? Usually the trope is the miraculous healing of whatever the lead kid suffers from and nobody outside the immediate family ever seems to notice or say something like "didn't you used to not be able to walk?" Turns out the child who played him was actually confined to a wheelchair! A nice touch in an otherwise nightmare film.

Just... wow. This film may hold the record for MST'ed film with most blatant product placements ever. And I thought the random soda ad in 'Pod People' was shameful.
Some great riffs all throughout.
(mother putting baseball bat away) "Eric, I told you the tooth fairy doesn't exist!"
(Eric vacuums up Mac) "Eric knows this will work because he saw the opening of the movie."
Great special effects failure moment that JH&TB didn't catch. When the girl is being dragged along the ceiling and walls by the vacuum, it's pretty obviously a dummy. That gave me a good hearty laugh.
Um..... So did the mother in the film really think her *wheelchair-bound* son made that "mess" in the living room?
The "sunglasses" bit was great. Reminded me of the "headlight" moment from Mitchell.
Man that music during the car chase scene sounded so much like Back to the Future, I couldn't tell if they seriously had used audio of it, or if it was just really similar.
"Eric, it's me mom. What's the password to the Internet again?"
"Mom, I saw dead in heaven! He said you pushed him off a cliff!"
That ending scene.... with the aliens being made official Earth citizens (I guess), and dressed up in stereotypical suburban clothing. Somebody thought that was a good idea for the film....
I still haven't gotten used to Baron as Servo.
Overall, pretty good episode. One of those films that gave the riffers plenty to work with.

Regarding the music for the van chase: Alan Silvestri wrote the music for both this and BttF, so they probably just asked him to ape his own music.

Silvestri probably saw footage for the movie and figured it wasn't worth the effort writing anything new.

Sadly all the Ant Man scenes got cut from the MST episode. Such a shame.

They kept the scene that matters to Paul Rudd.

BTW, did anyone notice that we were only 2 host segments during the movie, instead of 3?

BTW, did anyone notice that we were only 2 host segments during the movie, instead of 3? It's the new format to make everything quicker and more bingeable. But I feel if they're going to do that, they should at least keep more of the movie, at least another 5 minutes, and not edit it so much to hell. With this season we are approaching This Island Earth levels of movie editing. We're only seeing about 60 to 65 minutes of movies that are originally 90+ minutes.

Woah... are we going to end up back at The MST Hour?! KTLA predicts!

Jack Perkins deserves his comeback.

My first viewing is usually just getting to grips with the movie itself. None of the first three episodes feature a movie that I'd watch for more than five minutes. For me, that makes it a lot harder to enjoy the riffs.
I'll get back to you after my second pass.

Mmeadows: Oh yeah, In fact I quite enjoyed a lot of the earlier movies on their own terms--that's not to say they were actually very good, but a great many of them were sincere efforts, like "Last of the Wild Horses," "Girl in Lover's Lane," even "Final Sacrifice." None of those movies were slipshod and none of them were winking at the camera. I can enjoy those for what they were at the time. And with those sorts of movies, the riffs tend to be plays on the dialogue, rather than comments on how crappy the movie is.
Re: Mac and Me: Hated the movie enough (perhaps more accurate to say I was indifferent enough to the movie) that the riffs couldn't hold my attention. I got bored and left before it was over.

10/10. This was one of the best episodes of the show's entire run. I couldn't stop laughing. On the downside, I'm still not fond of Baron as Servo, but he was better here than he was generally in Season 11. Favorite riffs: - "Let's get our stories straight. They shot first and the kid never had a wheelchair." - "Ocupado... Get the camera off me." - The whole "Bobby" thing with the alien kid. The plight of a child actor... - All the noises they make during the chase scene with the government workers (apes, Curly, etc.). I need to watch that scene again because I was laughing too hard to hear all the riffs.
I just finished this episode, and I already want to watch it again.
