Unfortunately it seems like Netflix is not 100 percent behind the show But, But, they were behind it enough to 'suggest' a bunch of format changes and movie suggestions in return for six whole episodes. Incidentally, coincidentally, prophetically(?), the same number of eps that CC ordered in their final fleeting interest for a season 7. I really hope if this doesn't pan out with NetFlix, that Joel just pursues independently making eps a few at a time, with a smaller budget--(like not shot in LA, shot all at once old school production style, etc., less famous mads (although I would miss Kinga and Max, one of the better additions to the reboot-er-return)) and sells them ep by ep through Shout! or something -- and, of course, goes back to the original format as well.

Gonna go out on a limb and guess that Netflix decided to pass on more eps, but has agreed to keep things quiet while Joel et al find a new home or figure out a new plan. I just can't imagine waiting this long to announce a new season if it were going to continue living at Netflix.

Netflix has a standard rider in most of their contracts where if Netflix cancels you they have exclusivity to show your show for 5 or so years and you can't find another home for it for new episodes for that period. So if MST is canceled, they're probably not going anywhere soon.

Depends on the show and the rights holder. For example, Sony is trying to extricate One Day At A Time from Netflix to move it to CBS All Access and running into problems. (Although I'd read that they would be able to restart production in the summer, so who knows.)

So if MST is canceled, they're probably not going anywhere soon. Their arrangement with MST has been different in a lot of ways. I suspect Joel would never sign off on a deal including that, and I suspect that Netflix probably doesn’t have strong feels about that since Shout and MST aren’t poised to become a major competitor, a la Disney/Marvel.

But they might not want them to go to a major competitor, like Hulu or Amazon.

All I know is that the radio silence is starting to make me nervous, and I'll be very disappointed if this is the end.
Remember, Joel reassured us that the 6-episode Season 12 was NOT cause for alarm and actually represented his desire to release shorter seasons more frequently.
Personally, I'd like to see evidence of those more-frequent seasons pretty soon here, or I'm going to start assuming the worst.

Yes, if more frequent seasons were happening, they would've been filming by now, or would be close, and something would've leaked.

This makes me a little less nervous:
Season 11 was released on April 14, 2017. Season 12 was announced on November 24, 2017. i.e. 225 days between the release of one season and the announcement of the next.
Season 12 was released on November 22, 2018. It is now April 14, 2019. i.e. 144 days.
So maybe it's still early yet, although if the more-frequent-seasons promise is legitimate, then we should have a shorter wait for an announcement.

I think a season 13 is still very possible. But like I said before, I'm really hoping that they take their time on the hopefully upcoming season. Season 12 was very rushed and not very good IMO. And to me, that shows that they really shouldn't be worrying about getting out seasons more frequently if that's the quality they're gonna have.

Is it possible that part of rushed feeling was this whole (stupid, dumb,obnoxious,follow-the-heard,sigh) idea of a season being a single binge watch?

(Although I'd read that they would be able to restart production in the summer, so who knows.) Not to go too far off topic, but I read this and wondered "why the hell would CBS care about a mediocre 1970s sitcom staring Valerie Bertinelli, even if it used to be on their network?" Then I looked it up and realized "Oh, they did a remake for Netflix recently. Wait, who the hell would want a remake of that show? It's got a 98 percent rating at Rotten Tomatoes? What in the living #(*&$(*# is going on?" Netflix seems to be dealing with a lot of stuff. Disney and Apple are about to start streaming services to compete with them and they have a lot of original programming coming out in addition to MST3K. I'm not worrying about renewal just yet.

Someone on here said that Joel said there will be more live shows, so maybe at LEAST those will be recorded and released.
Hell, maybe they can just get a YouTube channel and REALLY give it a homemade feel. They'd still need money for that, though.

We just got a kickstarter email from joel, which is mostly spam about another kickstarter, but at the end he does say and I quote-- "our next big announcement on June 1 about the future of the live tour."
Which sounds like good news for the live show but possibly bad news for the series.
I agree, it would be nice if they taped and released the live shows. I don't love live shows, but they're not bad, a change of pace from the normal show. Although I might like a live MST3K less than say a live RiffTrax or Cinematic Titanic as MST3K is an actual show with characters and plots and just feels right coming in a packaged recording and no audience. I mean, they are trapped in space, and there are no live audiences in space....and if there were, they probably couldn't hear you scream.

I dunno, the full quote is actually quite promising: "Of course, the end of our record* doesn't mean the end of MST3K! We've got a lot more news abrewin', starting with our next big announcement on June 1 about the future of the live tour."
So -- this isn't "the end of MST3K," and they've got "a lot more news abrewin'." Based on that, plus the upbeat tone of the message, I'd guess that another season of MST3K is in the works. But if they're "starting with" an announcement about the live tour on June 1, then we probably won't hear anything about a new season before then. So I guess we have at least another month and a half to wait.
(* "record" here refers to the Kickstarter record for highest-funded TV show, which Critical Role just surpassed.)
