Speaking as someone who wasn't a viewer: I read a really interesting series of Twitter posts where a guy broke down the difference between George R. R. Martin's process and the process of the writers in the show (pantsers vs. plotters, basically). The guy pointed out how it would've felt "off" to people even if they couldn't point to something specific that was wrong (or even if they could.) His prediction was that the last episode would stick the landing in spite of how the lead up to it did. From what I'm hearing, he wasn't too wrong.

i've never been a fan of this show, i just could not get into it at all, however my dad loved it, he's not as big of a fan as many out there are like he hasn't bought the season sets nor does he intend to but he loves the show
