Unfortunately, he didn't have much to share. All he said was that he found it before the reboot series came out, and that he was trying to find every episode of the show. I mean, K01 and K02 were released before the reboot came out. So, he probably did see those at least. But yeah, this seems more and more like he's lying.

Remember those people (one guy with multiple accounts) who used to come here once a year and claim there was a Mystery Science Theater 2000 and everyone who likes the 3000 version isn't familiar with the history of the show or whatever? Same principle.
I'd heavily assume he's trolling to fish out a reaction out of people who know what he claims couldn't have happened.

Well, that's an obvious troll. This one at least seemed a bit more believable. But yeah, I get it. Either way, this didn't really help at all.

Yeah, if this had been the case, it would have blown up by now. The first three KTMAs only aired once and were never aired again. No one started taping the show until 1989. The only possible solution I see at this point is the existing master tape still at Jim Mallon’s. And even then, I think that’s completely out of the case now. I imagine everything Mst3k related is now officially out of his house.

The archived schedule at Tom's Temple is only partially complete for March-May 1989. And we don't know that fans didn't tape in 1988, only that the existing copies that have been traded and shared online are all from 1989 repeats.

Yes, it can't be confirmed for certain that nobody taped during 1988. But at the same time, it's been all but confirmed that no one taped then. There's still that slim chance that someone was taping then, but that's it. And yeah, I highly doubt that Jim still has it.

Every two years or so I am expecting that same guy with the gamera avatar and a different name to make one new post just to bump up that thread with their bogus claims.

There have been so many I HAVE K03 OMG scares, but none ever bear fruit, and it's always "OH sorry turns out it was K12"/"318". story always emerges out of that moment BEFORE they double-check to make sure they're correct. We've yet to get to "yeah, I did just check, it definitely IS K03". Wake me when THAT happens!

Yeah, sorry for the scare. I just thought that this might have been worth a shot. If all the planets allign and someone somehow has K03 and it actually 100% IS K03, then I'll of course let you know.

The key thing to note is this would have basically blown up all over the MST community had it actually been found.
At this point there really is no use trying to bring this up anymore because it’s basically confirmed the master tape is missing with a generic “sorry, we can’t reveal why” mentality, and the fact that the episode only aired once gives an extremely slim chance anyone taped it to begin with.

My *hope* is that it's still out there in a form that we can get to someday. But, well, "I'll believe it when I see it" is extra true in this case. If a person claims to have found it, great! I look forward to their YouTube upload.

Yeah, from now on, I'm not gonna be trusting anyone unless they have video proof.

Truth is it’s very easy for someone to just come up and say “Hey guys, I have a copy of K03” or “I found K03 on YouTube.” If they don’t show actual evidence like a screen shot or a YouTube link then that should be an obvious clue they’re lying.
