I'm so happy that you got Rocketship XM. It's in the best hands it could possibly be.

So, after some testing, I can deinterlace to a good looking 60fps. But resizing to 720p will just degrade video quality. So I'm going to convert out to 60fps, but 420p. The only problem is that YouTube doesn't like 60fps at 480, and will strip out half the frames on upload, hence why I'm also uploading to Google Docs. Doing so at super high quality will take roughly 13 hours. And that's before I clean up the audio and recombine. So, it'll take a few days.

How is your Spleen, if I may ask? *wink, wink, nudge nudge*

If you're talking about myspleen and uploading stuff to it, I haven't investigated it yet. The furthest afield I've gotten from YouTube is Archive.org for uploading episodes the copyright censors take down.

Garrett,
When Kolos is able to share, it is hypothetically possible that somebody has already received permission from the mods over at wink wink to upload a file which combines the theater segments from Kolos's copy with the host segments from "Satellite Dishes".

Here it is, in its uncompressed, way-too-big glory! 201-Rocketship X-MIts...uhh...big. Like, nearly 30 GBs, big. So...uh...enjoy! I'm currently working on uploading it to Youtube, which will make it much smaller (and strip out half the frames) if you want to download it off there later. Next up will be 418-Eye Creatures.

I understand that the video quality is never going to be as good as an official DVD release would, I've watched and compared the host segments released on the Satellite Dishes disc tp confirm that very obvious fact. But, the movie segments are the most important part to preserve. So, as someone else said, they can be cut out and pasted together with those high quality host segments to make a whole, complete DVD-worthy copy.

Anyone have a good recommendation to download the Youtube version for those of us who'd rather not download 30 gigs? Online versions I tried either have a max resolution of 360p with sound (blech) or 480p with no sound.
Also of course, thanks so much for all of your hard work, Diet Kolos! These are such great finds.

I generally use ytmp3 for downloading YouTube videos. The only problem with it is that it can't download anything longer than 2 hours. However, the quality is very good. Unless Kolos is already backing his videos up somewhere, I'm gonna need to find a YouTube downloader that can go over 2 hours to get the broadcast editions. I'd imagine that he is though and I wouldn't need to worry.

I'm sorry for that last post. I guess I forgot that this isn't the IFC thread lol. To make up for that, I'll share the newest BBI vault tape uploaded by Kolos. It's episode 512, Mitchell! www.youtube.com/watch?v=Re2iynsFURc

Hopefully, this episode won't require fan distribution much longer! Kudos to Kodos for the transfer, it looks great in the Google preview.
