^^^^ Of course, people online are saying the footage of Mars is fake and that it's "Greenland" and laughing because there are "no stars" in the pictures just like the "fake moon landing."
I hate people.

Scientists (studying weather satellite info) noticed that back in August of 2014 there was a "space hurricane" of plasma over the North Pole. It was 600 miles wide, was funnel shaped, and lasted about 8 hours. It was made up of magnetic field lines and solar winds. It "rained" electrons instead of water.
Weird science.

That's bizarre, and I love it. It sounds like the kind of thing you'd hear in a pulpy 50s sci-fi adventure show, but there it is!

I can't believe Voyager 1 is still operational. It's currently 4.1 BILLION miles away from Earth and traveling at 38,000 mph. And still able to send transmissions to the home planet. Holy crap. That's amazing.

That's amazing. I was a senior in high school when it was launched, I graduated when I was 17, and I'm almost 61 now. Boggles the mind. I wonder how many people call it V-ger since ST:TMP was released.

W?T?F? Are they?
Reading the comments on the YouTube channel is disheartening.
It's a hoax! The govt. is lying to us and trying to make us scared so they can get more money and control us!
AHA! I knew it! It's been true for years and the govt. has been lying to us!!
It's the end times!!! (Again, for the billionth time).
It's demons!!!!
It's jinn!!!!!
FAKE!!!!!!!!
But, seriously, what are they? Who's telling the truth? Why is no picture or video ever clear? (I know they're fast, but...)

Scientists have revived a multi-celled microscopic organism called a Bdelloid Rotifer after having been frozen in a lake in Siberia for 24,000 years.

It's been observed that male Mayflies, when rejected by females, eat more fermented fruit - thereby getting drunk. Same everywhere, I guess - no matter the species.

Makes me wonder how the Sentinelese tribespeople on North Sentinel Island can keep a viable population going. Wouldn't they be terribly inbred by now?

Archaeologists have uncovered an ancient "fast food" diner in Pompeii that's 2,000 years old. Cool. Original article is at Business Insider.

SpaceX is launching its Inspiration 4 all civilian flight for 3 days in orbit around the Earth at 8:02 EDT tonight, so a bit over an hour from my typing this. Live coverage on YouTube.
Cool.

Captain Kirk! In! SPAAAaaace!!!
Yes, William Shatner is going to go up into space at 90 years young. (He does not look or act 90, wow). He'll be going up in Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin in October.
How friggin' epic is that? So apt (poetic? what's the word I'm looking for here? Just meant to be).

Scientists in Egypt have discovered the fossil of a prehistoric four-legged whale. 43 million years ago it hunted on land and in the water. I didn't know whales used to have four legs. This one looks pretty frightening.

^^^^^ Yeah, they went back to the ocean.
Prince William, among others, are dissing wealthy people going into space. He says Earth should come first, not space. I get it, of course. Yes, we should solve our problems here on Earth and try to fix things and not think just of where we can run off to on some other world or in space if things get unlivable down here, but -- um...did he put those thoughts out on social media by any chance? Ahem. One needs things in space to do that, does he get that?
One branch of science can leak over into another. Does he know how many things have been improved HERE ON EARTH because of the existence of NASA and the like? Space exploration is not just about space. It's about understanding things and learning new ways to do things.
And, yeah, rich folks have always been the first to be able to do new stuff or get new tech. Until it becomes cheap enough for the average crowschmo to be able to do it. It's not like he himself hasn't had a life of privilege for corn's sake.
William Shatner defended his trip to space saying things like this are needed to get some polluting causing industries off the Earth and into space to help life here on Earth.
(Now, polluting space is another mess we need to study to make sure we're not screwing that up as well).
