Well that's certainly a welcome bit of news.
Seasons 11 and 12 weren't my favorites, but I did enjoy them, and was happy to have new episodes to add into the rotation, so I'm excited to see what's coming next, now!

I'd love to see the new cast come back for another season. However, notice how Jonah doesn't say "we" got some ideas, but rather "Joel's" got some ideas. So, it's possible that we'll have yet another cast change, unfortunately before the Netflix cast really got to hit their stride.

I'm worried these "ideas" aren't related to future seasons of the TV show, which is all I'm interested in. Not live tours, comic books, spin-offs, or anything else that's kinda-sorta MST3k but really not.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Joel and "ideas" isn't always a good combo. Joel gets lots of ideas. He's an ideas guy. But Joel needs someone to temper his ideas with practicality. Until then, Joel's ideas are eventually going to evolve the stage show into MST Mummenschanz and further away from a profitable TV show.

So, it's possible that we'll have yet another cast change, unfortunately before the Netflix cast really got to hit their stride. That's a possible takeaway... but I think it's more likely that this is because MST3K has always been Joel's baby, from its pre-birth as the Mystery Science Labs in his prop comedy bits to the rebirth as a Netflix show and, unlike a lot of creators out there, he's actually been able to keep his hands on the show, at least for the most part. Joel *might* go with a new cast, it's a sad idea for the current crew... but I'm hopeful that we'll see all these folks again.

As usual, DK says pretty much what I'd say. I would add that Jonah is probably pretty good pals with Joel at this point and is probably not going to say anything bad about him in public or otherwise. I agree that his verbiage here hints that Joel, not Joel and the MST3K2.0 group, are working on things, which in that light is essentially non-news because of course Joel is working on MST3K stuff--it's his now and he's gotten not much out of it to this point.

Hmm, I'm curious to see what Joel's been working on next. I could see him rebooting the show again using the touring cast, maybe trying releasing episodes directly to DVD/BR via Shout Factory. Somewhere without the restrictions of Netflix would be great.

Where do MST3K cast members, past and present, live right now? I'd assume that the biggest obstacle to any re-reboot in the future, pandemic aside, would be participating cast members being forced to commute from one part of the country to another, especially if they already have family and other business commitments.

The Relaunch actors plus Elliot Kalan live in LA. The writers, as I recall, live across the country already. The married couple that played Cynthia and Tom Servo during the tour live in Chicago, I think. Trace lives along the Minnesota/Wisconsin border (essentially the Twin Cities suburbs) after moving back from LA. Frank lives in NYC. Josh lives in LA. Mary Jo moved back to the Twin Cities from Austin awhile ago. Mike and Bridget also moved back to the Twin Cities a decade or more ago. As did Kevin. And Bill. Jim still lives in the Twin Cities. I THINK Paul is still in the Twin Cities. And Joel...lives in the suburbs of Philadelphia. But I believe he may still own a house in the Twin Cities. So...

Haha. That's all just passive knowledge I have stored away from years of fandom.
It's not like I know any of their addresses.
