Just got this email from them. Too bad.
Sadly, the time has come. We are no longer going to be offering any Mystery Science Theater 3000 episodes. We are still waiting to find out if we can offer non-episodic material (rarities, conventions, outtakes, etc) We apologize for this sudden announcement and hope it doesn't impact your ability to acquire a full set of all episodes at a reasonable cost. It seems as though fans may no longer "circulate the tapes", as corporations pulverize everything and everyone into profit. We will continue to provide our huge library of rare, obscure, and cheesy Movies/TV/Radio at near cost, either as downloads or on disc. Thanks for being the best customers/friends in the world! Michael

well, that's the end of an era - I wonder what lead to that? Did that come down from the MST3K, those in charge of MST, etc - or those who owned the rights to the original movies?

It has to be MST3K/Shout itself. I can't imagine Susan/Wade/the anonymous person who owns Delta Knights ALL said stop.
Plus, notice how they say they're pending confirmation on if they can still sell rarities and convention tapes. This is definitely coming from Shout.
If Shout is targeting a site that sells episodes Shout will probably never have the rights to, I'm wary they may start coming at YouTube episodes or Club-MST3K pretty hard next.

Apparently a bunch of episodes were pulled off YouTube as well. I'll check my uploads to see if any were removed.

Crap. Crap. I'm in full panic, I was about to buy the missing episodes now that I actually have a job and can afford them, and mst3kguy.com is down as well.
I know a few places to get them, but I really would have liked the custom packaging.
I know a few people here bought sets, perhaps they can save the isos, since they aren't going to be available anymore?
If the bonus content bites it, I'll be really depressed.

This is really sad to hear. After buying the unreleased twelve from MST3KGuy last year, I had a cart of cheesyflix downloads on my account for almost a year. Then last month it was announced they would allow ISO downloads, and their 4/20 sale with 42% off was too good not to go for. So I ended up downloading all of KTMA, the specials, behind the scenes, rough cuts, movie extras, outtakes and the home games. I actually have 7 more files in my wishlist of interviews, commercials and some other clips. I think I'm going to run over there and buy them before its too late! Crap. Crap. I'm not selling ISOs or anything, and I don't know the forum's rules for trading, but if it makes you feel better I have the DVDs and ISOs so they're in one active forum member's files at least.

Looks like they are still obtainable. Not sure what all I need to get that isn't available elsewhere but I got the isos for the missing ones, at least.
Would be neat to compare them to the mst3kguy versions. If you can make isos, cool. At this point it's all about preservation. I'm not taking any chances if Shout is flexing muscle.
ALSO REMIND ME. I need to back up the ones I ordered way back in the day, since I don't trust recordable media worth a damn. I have the KTMA and some other odds and ends. Need to make them into proper isos or DVD rips before the dye goes bad or they get damaged.
Seriously, someone PM me and tell me to do that so I have a reminder.

Well, the dire part about all of this is that some of those rarities, the live show tapes the convention videos, but or videos, the commercial compilations, etc, AREN'T anywhere else anymore.
15 years ago there used to be a thriving business of Tape Traders and even the DAP that collected and catalogued all that stuff. And they're all either dormant or dead. And a fair bit of that stuff isn't on YouTube and some of it Shout will NEVER release.
So once sites like Cheesyflix are gone, this stuff is also essentially gone.

The rarity stuff is of main concern. I don't know who would be willing to pool resources.

I bought the ktma episodes and one of the roughcuts a while back, but didn't have the isos. It looks like you've got most of the stuff I was eyeing, roughcuts, outtakes, etc.
The convention stuff might be out of price, but I can get the talk radio.
Is there any convention stuff that you're looking at in particular?

I’ve never seen or been to any of the conventions they have Recordings of, but really anything that is watchable with good audio and covers interesting panels I’d say are the ones that are the most interesting to me. But the audio one did sound pretty interesting as well.
Out of fairness to cheesyflix I’ll hold back on sharing ISOs until he starts taking specific stuff I own down. Hopefully it’s just the episodes and the bonus stuff is safe.

So once sites like Cheesyflix are gone, this stuff is also essentially gone. You said on another thread about the coincidences that the MST3K store is shutting down, Cheesyflix is being driven out of selling any MST3K content, and Joel's Riff-Along post show stream making it clear that the touring cast is going to be doing any MST3K produced in the near future all occurring in the space of a few days. Maybe I'm super paranoid, or grasping at straws, but I have a feeling in the pit of my stomach that there's a conscientious effort by Shout? Joel? Both? to erase significant parts of MST3K history going on. It goes back to last year when the MST3K website was revamped to erase the Kickstarter and all the old interviews, articles, and comments related to it. (I'm still a little cheesed that the Thank You pages for both the Kickstarter and the Season 12 Pledge Drive were removed. I think the S12 page was up less than 12 weeks.) We're supposed to embrace the 20 Netflix episodes above and beyond any other MST3K content. Yesterday and today on his Facebook page Joel told a fan who said the streaming special was just "okay" that "You kinda sound like you don't appreciate what we did. Brought the show back to life, found a new cast, new writers and producers. Biggest Kickstarter in history. Then did Twenty feature length episodes on the biggest platform in the world, Also, I might add, all 20 episodes are 100 percent fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. C'mon." Then he followed that up with this: "I'm grateful to have 20 really strong shows up there to direct new people to. Most everyone has Netflix and people seem enthused when you tell them. So yeah, lighten up." It feels like Joel doesn't want to really acknowledge or want anyone else to appreciate the old show, at least not as much they do the new stuff. I get it; the reboot is entirely his, he doesn't have to share the glory with anyone else. But almost all of the fans he has came to be fans through the original 198 episodes. Erasing that there was a history of the show before 2015 feels dishonest; I know the actual episodes will survive but how long before the "problematic" ones are changed as well? Will Gypsy's name be overdubbed with GPC? (Hey, if RiffTrax has gone back to erase or change riffs in older releases that are now considered offensive, MST3K might do it too.) Will the Japanese movie episodes disappear because of the questionable stereotypes? If there's no record of the way things used to be, if you can't see the interviews and commercials and outtakes and other moments, then whoever has the IP can tell you what you remember wasn't the way it really was. I'm rambling a little because it's hard to come up with exact words for what I'm sensing, because it is just a sense, a gut feeling. I'm not a long time fan, only since just before the Kickstarter. But I see so much of what happened in the past few years has already been forgotten or rewritten; things about the Kickstarter and what was said/promised, constant revision of timelines, the role of the original show cast diminished and in some cases erased, and hell, Joel retconned the entire Gypsy/GPC name change on Sunday from how and when it actually happened last year. What else is going to change? What do you long-time fans remember that you are going to be told you never saw or heard? It scares me.

Yeah, obviously hold back on sharing for now, but I'm personally willing to bet this is the big one since 2020 has had a STELLAR record of screwing me this year. I can always provide proof I own the ktma and rough cuts. For some reason my account history was nuked, the system wouldn't even take my email even though I got the email... but I saved all my receipts. Ideally, I'd like everything to be open as an archive at some point. I haven't upped anything from Cheepnis to any trackers or the like, but I think those are going to be our best bet if the dust settles. I may be a data hoarder but I have principles. Own all the released dvds legit, and a fair number of uncut movies.
