I started a whole thread for these guys. (So we're not hoarding all the space in "Now Playing", ha-ha). I think they deserve their own thread. These guys are pretty much the best thing to come around in music for a long time. And also, I believe they should get as much exposure and get as many views as possible. I think we as a species should do whatever we can to undo the crap culture of so-called "music" that is polluting the airwaves at present. Get rid of the Beibers and the pablum groups of "artists" (who all sing bland, carbon copy songs written by pretty much one or two songwriters - blech) and promote some old-school rock and roll. Not just pop. Sure, it has a place, but it's crowding out the good stuff. And hip-hop and rap. That has a place, too, and I know a lot of people like it, but come ON. Get a new sound already. Let's get back to the fun stuff. Not the whiny or vanilla or the rage-y stuff that's overplayed and overdone. So, here's one that I think is one of their Queeniest: Edit: "If entertainment's what you want, then, honey, I'm the best." That line is so Freddie (and the way he sings it sounds like Freddie, too).

Or a bit of a Stones vibe:
Special shoutout to TurkeyVolGuessnMan for alerting me to these guys.

Edit: This video (and this song) looks like it would be good as the ending credits to a movie. Like a rock band who went through trials and tribulations and rejections, and finally made it. That's what it makes me think of.
Another edit: I like this live version better than the studio version.

They look so young in this one. I never heard that one or One Night Only. Both great songs and next on my purchase list, so thanks for posting those! I've been listening to both of their cd's and the Good Morning America concert on Youtube. I need to check out their concerts. I agree with everything you've said in this thread and "now playing": they seem like a fun band, the lead singer is like Freddie Mercury and Mick Jagger, and Kiss This was the first song I got hooked on the first cd. Today, I kept restarting Where Did She Go. They just don't seem to write a bad song.

Speaking of "old school" rock: There's a band out there called Greta Van Fleet that other people are saying is also saving rock. I tried to listen to them, but I can't sit through any of their songs all the way through. The singer sounds a lot like Robert Plant and the band like Led Zeppelin, so if anyone's into that they can check them out if they haven't heard of them already.
Personally, I think the lead singer sounds a lot like a TEN YEAR OLD trying to sound like Plant. The band itself is really good as far as playing the music, but I, again personally, don't like any of the songs that I've heard so far. I can't imagine sitting through a two hour concert and listening to just that sound. It would give me a headache. That damn misophonia. It would sound like the same song for two hours.
Actually, I can only tolerate only so much Zeppelin in one sitting as well, even though I like them.
I prefer these guys. The Struts are a lot easier to listen to.

I've seen them talked about when looking up The Struts, so I listened to a couple of their songs on Youtube. Not horrible, but not something I could listen to for very long. There was a band that had a pretty good older sound. The first cd wasn't too bad, but I never listened to anything they did after that. Wolfmother - Woman

GVF makes some decent music, but they seem to be in denial about their Zepplin influence, claiming the don't hear it (basically). Understandably, they have gotten flack for that. I mean, come on guys, Zepplin was an influence. Like there's shame in admitting it. Speaking of LZ influenced bands, Rival Sons does it at least as well as GVF. They can be a bit heavy handed, but they can cut a groove, for sure. The Struts have a bit of a lighter attitude. Vintage Trouble has a lead singer who has that charisma kind of like Spiller. Here they are on Letterman. The crowd was blown away, as were Paul and Letterman. Letterman asks them to play the show out, and if you watched a lot of Letterman back in the day, he almost never did that.

Here's John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band. They did this for the second Eddie and the Cruisers movie. I think these guys kind of got gypped a little. People kind of pigeon hole them into "that Eddie and the Cruisers" band and some might not take them seriously, but this is a good old fashioned rock sound. I like their stuff that they had for both movie soundtracks and I don't just think of them as E&TC. (I guess I could have put up a version of the actual band playing instead of the movie poster, heh).

And here's the thread title band again, being goofy. "...you see me goin' for walks with my Lab-rRra-doodles.."

Ah, good. They're still doing new stuff. This isn't quite as catchy as some of their other ones.
What '80's band am I thinking his voice sounds like on occasion? (There were a few that sounded kind of alike). Is it Tears for Fears I'm thinking of? (A-Ha? The Outfield?) Does anyone think he sounds like some other lead from the '80's? Is anyone thinking the same thing here or is it just me?
His voice has a quality that he could sound like a few different people (one's Mercury, of course), but sometimes it sounds like someone else.
