Found a video on twitter of the kickstarter pitch: See hereLooks like they're going full independent. Fan-backed episodes released straight to fans via something called Gizmoplex. Releasing episodes as they finish them. Could start premiering episodes this fall. Need to raise 2 million for 3 episodes. 3.3 million, 6 episodes 4.4 million, 9 episodes. 5.5 million, 12 episodes + 12 shorts. So they're making a subscription service. So on top of your kickstarter money, you're also giving them money every month. Which is kind of like the Patreon idea Torgo had. I'm just not sure if they can hit critical mass with subscribers to be self-funding from then on out.

I watched the Kickstarter video that someone found in the source code of the new Kickstarter page and posted on Reddit. Words below in quotes are actual Joel quotes.
Joel wants to create his own online platform - the Gizmoplex - to release streaming content. He wants this to be basically like Twitch/Scener, where people watch the content together and chat about it, with "live monthly events." He wants to release the content as it's made, like it was "back in the day." He wants to develop apps so the content can be watched in all the places people watch content,
He's asking for the same financial goals as the 2015 Kickstarter, 2 million for the first three episodes, 5.5 million for a full 12 episode season. If the 5.5 million goal is reached, they will also riff 12 shorts "which we can release in between episodes."
It's short on details, of course, but it really seems like the point is to launch a subscription service that is entirely under Joel's control. There is no mention of Shout Factory anywhere in the Kickstarter video.

Considering Shout owns half of MST, assume they're probably have some involvement.

Considering Shout owns half of MST, assume they're probably have some involvement. It could be just me, but Shout Factory already has the digital presence and platforms for distribution. Could they work with Joel on a subscription service for this? There's no need to reinvent the wheel entirely and build from scratch.

So they're making a subscription service. So on top of your kickstarter money, you're also giving them money every month. Here’s one of those times where you seem to make the jump from idea A to conclusion 37. No doubt one of the rewards will be “Donate $XX and get a year’s subscription to Gizmoplex.” Hopefully they also include a level where you get DRM-free downloads and a DVD/Blu ray option. EDIT: Someone on Reddit looked at the HTML source code (how they found the video), and posted about the rewards: “ boxsets for season 13, Gizmoplex subscriptions for 3, 6, 9, and 12 months, Gizmoplex gift passes, special thanks in the show, special thanks in the Gizmoplex.” As well as what they called “typical Kickstarter merch.”

Found a video on twitter of the kickstarter pitch: See hereWho's voicing Crow and Tom in this video? Can anyone tell? And more importantly, who would be voicing them in the reboot? That's... kind of important. Also, $5.5 million? Never gonna happen. There's no way this Kickstarter receives the same level of support as the first one. I'd be surprised if it breaks $1 million. That said, I like the concept.

I'd assume Gizmoplex might be ran by Shout itself. After all, they already have their toe in the streaming service game.
I'd want some more details honestly. If it's paid subscription, that might cut a middle man out, but still...I'm sick of paid subscription services.

hahaha. My dear boy. Reinventing the wheel from scratch is Joel's sole purpose in life these days. Sadly you're right, and he's wasted a lot of time, resources, and goodwill doing just that so he gets credit. What bothered me the first time I watched the video, and then again on rewatching it, is how much Joel seems to like the idea of having total control of both content and distribution, and going beyond, of fan interaction at this new platform. Joel having total control is the reason why, IMO, the new content is so lackluster. The man needs a team of equals who aren't afraid to tell him when something isn't working and needs to be changed. The only positive I took from the video was episodes being released one at a time. That's what lots of fans said from the time the Netflix deal was announced. But if everything else gets done the way it was done before, then the actual episode content is still going to be less than ideal, or even downright disappointing.

So, here is my big question about Gizmoplex, if we are talking paid subscription, what all will be on it? Is it just new MST and a back catalogue of old MST? What exactly am I paying for per month here? If they're just running on that, I'm having a tough time seeing it last very long. Classic MST runs for free on Twitch and Pluto, while they still have deals with other streamers like Prime and Tubi for select episodes. And even still, classic MST is on demand at Shout TV. That's hard to contend with, unless they just port it all over.
What is the spice of keeping this streamer year round? Maybe Shout will make it a paid subsection to Shout TV for original content. Speculation, but they need to launch with more than this.
Otherwise if it's episode by episode, then maybe just put them out with a per episode price tag, maybe on Rifftrax or something similar. There are too many question marks for me to fully back the idea of a subscription service, but I'll gladly pay for more of the show.

Wow. Big thanks to everyone who found this info.
So first, this is probably the best we could hope for from this -- new eps directly from them, one at a time even!!
BUUUT, yeah, F*******K another paid subscription. And for what, one show? That doesn't work for anyone's model.
Also, so we only get episodes if we pay for them now on the kickstarter?? I'm getting a little tired of Joel asking us for money. RiffTrax makes a new riff, you know, ON THEIR OWN, like a real business does, and then puts it up for sale. And the people buy it if they want. Maybe they should try that.
Again though, this is probably the best one could hope for from this kickstarter. I might even pledge.

I'm guessing it's one of the tour performers, because I don't recognize them. In any case, I hope Joel mentions who is playing the Host/Tom/Crow in tomorrow's announcement. That's really important to me as a viewer and whether I pledge any money.
