Re: RiffTrax Lives --
Rifftrax Live are for a specific single live event (or 2 or 3 in later years). A special occasion of sorts in addition to their regular content.
And, they weren't asking for millions of dollars. Their first one raised $264K. Others raised various amounts usual around $500K, with I think the big MST3K reunion being the most at $620K.
And don't forget, RiffTrax actually has a continuing product and fanbase.

Is this forum just two guys who don't want new MST3K? Why do you think I barely post up here anymore?

Having looked at the rewards, I’m going to have to think about it.
I’m one of those people that would want the bluray and $250 is too much.

Is this forum just two guys who don't want new MST3K? I never said I don't want new MST. I said I want good MST. I would just like for there to be some standards. Sorry for expecting some quality from a product that we have to continuously sponsor and pay for. I didn't realize this was the Facebook group where we couldn't say anything that wasn't 100% glowingly positive. But if not being automatically satisfied with any product with the name Mystery Science Theater slapped on it is such an affront to you and Torgo I'll put on a happy face and cheerlead just as hard as the rest of them.

I did the $100 pledge, and that's about where I'll max out on this. Almost added the boxset as an add-on, but figured I'd wait to see how many episodes are going to be made. $70 for 3 episodes doesn't seem like a good deal. If they make it to 6 episodes, I'll probably go back in and add it on.

I haven't really posted here in a while (since the last KS), but just thought I'd drop a line to show my enthusiasm for this new era of MST3K. I went for the $100 12 month pass, plus the boxed set because I need to own something I can hold.
I was really bummed when Netflix opted out of new shows, but ultimately I blame Gen Z for that. I kid, actually I have a teenage daughter and we've been watching this for a few years, and slowly catching her up on old episodes. The humour is not lost on the youth!
I'll pop back in from time to time. I truly hope the interest is there for continued support. I would eagerly spend that money every year for a full season, but I know many people cannot.

If they make it to 6 episodes, I'll probably go back in and add it on. With season 11, I didn't change my pledge to the blu-ray box until they hit a dozen episodes. This time, I'm starting high and will lower it if the episode count ends up being 3. Given we were spending $60 for four DVDs of the classic show, 14 episodes on blu-ray at the $200 level was fair considering we also got digital downloads, the poster, shirt, USB, KTMA bonus episodes, coffee mug, postcard, stickers, etc. And I believe after the campaign a standard edition sold for $80 minus the bonus disc. This time though, the blu-ray as an add-on is an even better deal because you can go in at a lower amount and if they hit 12 episodes it will be good value. Hopefully they include bonuses like the MIGIZI shorts and the videos produced for the Kickstarter campaign.

As memory serves, I did something similar with the first Kickstarter - first pledge was at $50, which got me a T-shirt and a few other bits, and then I swallowed hard and added the DVD set (haven't yet gotten a Blu-Ray ripper, and I like to stream episodes off my external HD) at $85 during the closing marathon. No idea if I'll do something similar here.

It appears Gypsy will go by the GPC name for the new episodes, based on the "Personal Video From A Bot" reward.

Nobody said you had to put on a happy face and never post a negative thought, however, folks have a right to express opinions counter to that as well. I want a quality show too, but it does get a little thick with the melodrama in this section of the forum, no matter what Joel does, with the show, the coffee table book, etc, it's all a Greek tragedy. Like Torgo, I don't come in here all that often for that very reason. Not because it's an affront, but that it's wearying. It's not the complaints, it's the carping that's excessive, and that's coming from someone who can grouse with the best of them. You be you, you say what you want, but don't be surprised if some folks disagree or take issue with comments and such. That's life on a forum.

I've never backed any crowdfunding deal, I just go to the shows, or buy the sets, or stream the series when they become available. It could be interesting to actually back the series in this way. I'm usually a tightwad, I save and save and save for a rainy day (and last summer an uninsured drunk plowed into me and sent me to the hospital, and murdered my car, so me being a cheap, penny-pinching bastard turned out to be a good thing Still, I've since rebuilt my saving and might throw in this time, could be fun. Support the economy, help build a show.
