This project is my first time in more than 20 years of being a MSTie of really sitting down and watching through all of the KTMA episodes. I don't know why I avoided it for so long. K13, along with City on Fire and Last Chase are easily the top 3 of KTMA. Good enough where I think they could hang with the top half of Season 1. They're some really under-appreciated gems. am I alone in think the host segments in KTMA were better than season 1?

KTMA isn’t exactly a bingeable season. I tried it three times before finding myself getting bored. I’d say the later portion episodes (like Death Flight, City on Fire, HANGAR 18) really stick out.

I love KTMA eps. I don't watch any of the old ones that were redone later in the series. The later ones do get better as not only do they get into the groove, rumor over the years is that they did start peeking at the movies a little beforehand, prepping for the improv riffing.
To add to SST, City on Fire and Last Chase, I love Phase IV and Hangar 18, Million Eyes of Su-Muru, as well as Cosmic Princess and Humanoid Woman. Is that all of them? I really just love the format of KTMA. I think it could work on its own as a variant of the riffing formula-- You get 3 actual comedians/improvers/movie buffs, you get a half-way decent interesting old and/or cheesy movie, maybe let them skim through it or even pre-watch the whole thing once separately beforehand, and then have them come in and sit down together and record a straight watch through riffing 'live' as they watch, riffing off each others riffs which they are responding to live, they laugh, they interact, the movie itself is entertaining. I'd love it.

Yes, and it works BECAUSE its a local UHF horror-host type of show. Very movie-focused.
But it clearly wouldn't have translated to cable as-is. Which is a shame, because Josh is the MVP at riff improv, and he clearly chafed reading pre-written lines.
Now THERE'S a spin-off Joel should consider, Mystery Improv Theater 3000. Have it headed up by Josh.

Ladies and gentlemen. I present to you...the best copy of this episode you'll ever see... K13-SST: Death FlightWow, that looks great, I think it helped me to enjoy the episode a little more (I was never as big a fan of this one as most were). My home DVD wasn't all that bad, but the picture was washed out, this is a lot crisper with the color and picture details.

Holy hell. I hadn't watched the whole thing until after I uploaded it, but Crow's David Jannsen impression almost made me choke on what I was drinking. This is a great episode so far.

Yeah, that definitely stuck out for me myself.
I also posted about this on the Facebook group page recently, but Superdome is such a frustrating film with that ending!

Not gonna lie though, even for KTMA this is a pretty intense movie. There are some scenes I always felt uncomfortable watching (like seeing that poor girl trapped in a fire).

I have all the KTMA episodes in my DVD collection except for K03 of course. I enjoy having a complete DVD collection, but with Gizmoplex will that take over and will us completists spend our days having digital collections in the plex?
