I have a question for fans of the revival. (If you weren't a fan, shuffle on!)
Was there a moment when you knew it was going to be okay? Like when everything just clicked and you knew that MST3k was in good hands? If so, when was that?
For me, it was the "Every Country Has a Monster" segment from Reptilicus. That episode started off strong with neat production value and fun riffing, but that one song was such a home run for me. I put it up there with any other tune from either Clowns in the Sky album. It was the perfect blend of catchy, clever, and funny.
How about you, sirs?

I knew within 4 or 5 minutes of Reptilicus that I was going to enjoy the Reboot.
It actually took me a few weeks to get around to trying the Reboot, though, because I just assumed it was going to be for a hipper, younger crowd and I didn't consider myself the target audience. I'm glad I was wrong.

I was mostly at peace with the possibility that I might not enjoy it, as I was more into the idea of MST having a second shot or becoming a generational show which a younger audience might find and have for their own.
That being said, I got to the opening credit musical number in Reptilicus and was like "Okay, I'm having fun and I can't stop smiling."

I took a 4 hour bus ride to NYC to see the live premiere of Reptilicus with Joel, Jonah, Hampton, and Baron. I honestly was too uptight about it all to really enjoy it (I enjoyed the experience and being part of the history) but I came back from that having some doubts..
Second viewing of Reptilicus also didn't make me feel like it was going to be ok.. the riffing in that one was really rough and besides 'every country had a monster' I thought all the host segments fell short. The movie choice was super safe and predictable and the mads really hadn't shown any chemistry yet.
Cry Wilderness though.. man. the reboot made a top 10 of all time classic in their second episode.. holy crap. the whole kickstarter was worth it just for that one alone...
and it just got better from there.

I think for me the episode where I realised that I was onboard fully was Avalanche, which for me really showed the new cast firing on all cylinders with the revival. While the show now doesn’t always hit those kinds of highs, I think is shows what the Netflix era cast are truly capable of!

It was during Reptilicus when they made the "squishy" callback to the "Young Man's Fancy" short from "The Violent Years."

I liked it before the theme song was over on Reptilicus. I liked about 90% of Season 11. Rewatched multiple episodes with my family, like Cry Wilderness and Yongary. Some I think are as close to golden age MST3K as you can get, like Avalanche.
...
...then I started Season 12 and watched Mac & Me with a reduced runtime, an unfunny and heavily edited movie, missing host segments and shilling for "binging the Gauntlet", and I literally have not watched a Reboot episode since.

Am I a fan of the revival? I'm not sure, maybe I don't belong here. I don't hate it, and there are experiments I love, I guess I'm an uncertain, sometimes happy, sometimes not, viewer of the revival?
But for the sake of the thread... Reptilicus I didn't care for at all - I've come to like it a little more with a re-watch, but at first, nope - and I remember being depressed as hell. Then Torgo encouraged me to skip to Avalanche, and so I did, and I laugh so hard, and that saved it. That made it all alright.
After that, I was less depressed and stuck with it and found many other highlights on the year.

I knew during the new opening sequence; it was just wonderful. Reptilicus was also a solid episode. The speed of the riffing needed time to modulate but they got there.
I was fully cemented during Cry Wilderness, which is an all-time classic episode for the entire franchise AFAIC. I could not breathe during most of that.

Yeah i think most people it was the "Every Country Has a Monster" but the new opening sequence did have us overwhelmed at what our money paid for.
We felt that if MST3K hadn't been cancelled, this is what the show would have evolved into over the past 18 years.
The details over the Gauntlet had me worried. The reduced season and runtime. And i knew it had to do with their new Netflix masters. I wish the Gauntlet didn't go down as Season 12 and had been relegated to just being a 30th Anniversary Turkey Day Special.
