13 episodes, 1 per month, would take them through December 2022. But if I recall correctly the Holiday Special was Halloween-themed, so it'd probably be third-to-last released in Oct '22, one would think. I might be wrong, but I believe the Halloween episode and the Holiday episode were separate things. Pretty sure the Holiday was going to be Christams, but the Halloween was pitched as a special thing because there's never been a Halloween ep before?

They are separate things. The Halloween Special is the 3D movie and the Holiday Special is the Joel, Jonah, and Emily episode.

Ah, I had a feeling I was conflating the two.

Matt did say new episodes would be out sometimes this year during the livestream. And didn't add any maybes or hopefullys. So it sounds like we can look forward to 2021. (but I'm pessimistic enough to know crap happens. Still, crossing fingers for Nov)

Yeah, I wouldn't count on a 2021 premiere. That seems too ambitious to me. I'll be pleasantly surprised if it happens, though.

Updates say they have half the episodes written already and plan to have episodes done so they are free to do the tour. So no reason why we cant count on seeing the launch and premiere this year like they say
The latest update also says the rights to the holiday movie are up in the air so that we probably wont be getting this year and will be next years season finale

So what happens if the episode is ready by Turkey Day, but the Gizmoplex isn't?

So what happens if the episode is ready by Turkey Day, but the Gizmoplex isn't? That's probably unlikely, but they'd probably stream it as a debut during the YouTube/Twitch Turkey Day marathon.

Yeah im not worried about whether they'd be able to get a streaming service up within 6 months :b they have hired tech companies that can handle that easily
Also if they dont have the Gizmoplex ready, they'd be breaking their Kickstarter promise to all the people who signed up for that year PLUS the extra month. Or they'd be running that reward into the next season when they need all the KS people to resubscribe. Also every month they dont have the Gizmoplex up they are missing out on that revenue. So getting the Gizmoplex up is going to be a high priority and i dont think they'd be messing around with a tour if that wasn't taken care of.

I think you guys are underestimating the amount of work that goes into building a website like this. But a lot depends on how much is being built from the ground up and how much is being offloaded to Google/Amazon/what-have-you. The next few months should be very interesting.

I maintain that's a huge leap to make based on no indication or information stating development of the Gixmoplex is behind schedule. I'll seriously consider that if updates start bringing it up.

I always assumed from the sound of it, when they described it, that the core components, the basic electrical, scaffolding and plumbing (ie, the video streaming tech), of the Gizmoplex is being bought from some third party company and they're just going to hang curtains on it to make it their own brand.
I don't think every single little feature Joel mentioned that he wants on there is going to be built out at launch probably, but the basic functions probably won't take much to get up and running.

That was always one of my predicted possibilities--that almost none of the bells and wills Joel talked about will be there at start, and that there is a very real chance that at launch the gizmoplex is just a vimeo stream front with mst3k painted on, like the examples shown here: vimeo.com/ott/homeThis wouldn't really be a bad thing. there's nothing wrong with a simple storefront. it's just not what joel pitched in the KS, and some people might feel like they didn't get what they pledged for.

seeing how just about all these streaming sites are basically the same thing with the same functions, they don't need to build any of it from the ground up as if this is the first streaming site to hit the world wide web All that basic code that gets used for any functioning streaming site is ready to go from the start from whichever company they hire to run the thing. And according to the last update, said bells and whistles are currently being worked including putting together the virtual theater experience and getting the device apps ready to go. Looks like they are well past the simple storefront stage of gestation, halfway to the speculated deadline.
