A shame, but I'm fine with who they have.

That’s a shame. I still assume that Joel will still have a different Crow to Jonah and Emily, also I can’t imagine it’ll be Trace considering that he and Joel still have bad blood.....so I wonder who it’ll be!

Here's a thought. Josh voiced Crow in one KTMA segment when Trace was unavailable. So he could bounce between both voices, maybe.

Get Paul to do it so we can all be reminded of that awful Flash series from Jim.
(We understand, Paul. We still love you.)

I can only assume that part of why season 11 was a lot stronger than 12 was due to his involvement with the writing for the former. Honestly this Crow situation really makes it a bigger bummer the Joel and Trace are on bad terms, because having the original trio of Joel, Josh, and Trace would have made for a delightful trip down memory lane. I’m guessing that Joel’s crow is likely to be someone new….time will tell I guess!

I think starschwar is talking about Gamera, where Josh does Crow being frozen, but Josh had actually done an entire episode (K01) as Crow prior to that.

I actually didn’t realise he was Crow in K01, it does actually explain why he sounded so odd in that episode. Honestly I just assumed Trace just hadn’t settled on a voice for him yet!

Starcrash and Wizards II are the episodes that Bill and Mary Jo are credited as writing on. I think that's an aspect of the way the writing works on new MST that some fans (not you, in general) aren't aware of: just because someone is writing on a season, doesn't mean they are writing for all the episodes. Most likely their contribution is to write scripts for a few movies, and possibly work on a host segment if Joel assigns it to them. Any individual writer that is outside the core team (the Alternaversal people and the West Coast team of Jonah/Elliot Kalan/Tammy Golden/Seth and Mary Robinson for the past two seasons and live shows) is likely to have very little overall impact on the feel of a given season.

TLDR: There's no writers room anymore, and it's the single biggest problem with the new seasons.

TLDR: There's no writers room anymore, and it's the single biggest problem with the new seasons. Don't worry. Its all part of Joel's process of reinventing the wheel. First he strips out what made the show work in the name of progress, then he slowly fixes those issues over the course of several years until his solutions are just rough facsimiles to what he originally stripped-out/broke. In the KS he even said they're writing by watching the movies as a big group over video chat or something during the writing for Season 13. So at this rate, there'll probably be a physical, dedicated writer's room with a stable of writers on all the episodes again by the time Season 14 rolls around. Maybe season 15 if he doesn't throw some incremental step in there.

Yeah...I mean, I get the impulse to try something new, and at least Joel and the crew do seem to be adapting back to what works best, but it all looks a little silly in retrospect. I have a hunch this is going to land with two writers' rooms, one for each "crew," either two completely separate teams, or a single set of writers serving as a core on both teams, supplemented by the cast for a given episode.

It's all part of the blessings and hazards of the creative spirit.... the wheels are always spinning, the minds always in motion, looking for a new challenge. Sometimes what we try works, sometimes it fails, but that spirit's what drives us, allows us to explore, and see what can we do, how far can we take whatever we are building, and what new toys are there to play with, to facilitate that creative process? Whether we are making music, or writing, or filming, or, I imagine, putting together a comedy show.
Trace and Frank have an unconventional way of writing their shows, and it works for them. (they don't really conference, it sounds like it's very loose and almost improvisational)
And I remember Bridget being interviewed by Bill for one of those Rifftrax podcast thingys, and he talked about missing the energy of the writer's room, and she agreed, but also said they got more done when they went off alone to their offices or wherever, and wrote jokes that way (it sounded like that part of the process was more focused and disciplined).
Having a writer's room of some kind can't hurt, at least for the chemistry and bouncing off ideas off one another (collaboration can be an incredible creative tool, gets you out of your own head, sparks ideas you never would have thought of, on your own).
The point is, there's a lot of ways to go at it - personally, I encourage creative exploration (it's better than the alternative, creative stagnation from playing it too safe).
I wound up enjoying much of season 11, and I hope I like season 13 even more. Looking forward to seeing what they cook up for us.

According to Rebecca Hanson, there was a writer's room for season 12. But as always, it's not about what the problem is, it's what we perceive the problem to be.
Joel didn't provide Diet RC for the staff, that's why seasons 11-12 are horrible!
