I just received the new MST3K update and tonight begins "The Mindless Summer Series." (Begins August 6th, 2021). I am very disappointed in the selection of films for this weekly event until the last episode which will be September 3rd, 2021. Most of the films have already been done on MST3K. Here are the titles - "The Horror of Party Beach", "Tormented," "Blood Waters of Dr. Z," "Catalina Caper," and "Code Name" Diamondhead." I am not very happy at this selection except for the first film. I have also been concerned about where they are taking MST3K. I invested heavily in this project through Kickstarter and I feel that it's all going in the wrong direction. When they announced the Gizmoplex I thought it would be a facility in Minnesota where they would film all episodes with a museum for fans to visit, etc. Kind of similar to the Prince Compound "Paisley Place." It looks like that is not the case at all and maybe I let my imagination get the best of me, but that is what I read into it when the campaign to fund began. I am also concerned of all the money they are shelling out to hire people. I think it's unnecessary, and I feel like they are throwing money at people. Most of the people I see in the email updates I would not have hired, and I think they should keep it very simple like at KTMA. I think they need to get back to the basics of it all and allow the funds to go farther. I am also worried about all the writers they are hiring. I have seen the names and these are not funny people. I need to stop because I am ranting here, but I am concerned, and if they don't pull it together I won't be funding again.

These livestreams are not new riffings, but watch parties with the cast, like during the Kickstarter campaign. These were popular so they decided to do some more, to occupy the fans while we wait for the Gizmoplex.
The official announcement read...
"During the Kickstarter campaign, a lot of you joined in for our series of LIVESTREAM RIFF-ALONGS, where a group of MST3K cast and special guests watched classic episodes together, made some new observations, and generally enjoyed themselves. When the campaign ended, a lot of you told us that you’d miss those regular livestreams, and as it turned out, we missed them too!
So, while we’re hard at work building the Gizmoplex to enable even bigger livestream experiences in the future, we thought it would be fun to get the cast back together for a SUMMER FILM SERIES, and watch some summer-appropriate classic MST3K episodes, and this time, we won’t even need to interrupt to ask for donations!"
And no, the Gizmoplex was always sold as a virtual theater and whatnot. Never as a real physical place.

Did you miss the live streams they did during the Kickstarter? Because you seem to be a bit out of the loop as to what these are. For context, check out my write-up or just watch one of the streams they did a while back, which thankfully still seem to be on YouTube. I'm sorry, but I'm trying to make heads or tails of this post and it's really just all over the place and bizarre, full of misreads and strange conclusions.

I did watch the watch along episodes during the Kickstarter, but was not too impressed. I will skip these Mindless Summer events. Just waiting for the meat.

It sounds like you created something in your head that was never promised or even discussed and are disappointed they have not met your expectations. I thought that the GizmoPlex would be sex with a 1984 Kelly LeBrock in my hometown of Des Moines. Since that is not the case, I won’t be funding another Kickstarter.

Because it doesn't match your post history, where you said you pledged 85 bucks and even refer to the Gizmoplex as a digital place. I'm going with satire. I don't want to consider the alternative.

It's funny, because one person's MST3K gold is another's junk. I'm very pleased with the selection for this Summer Series except for the first one, Horror of Party Beach. But it's out of the way now, so I can enjoy the next four, which include two of my all time top ten favorites, Tormented and Catalina Caper. I love Code Name Diamond Head, and Dr. Z is a pretty strong season 10. I'm happy that they do these primarily because it serves as a good history lesson for the current cast. It's good for them to know the complete origins of the show; it can only help future episodes.

I enjoy these commentary livestreams (as long as they don't do too many of them) especially when we get some wholesome first reactions, like Felicia Day having not watched Catalina Caper and reacting to Little Richard's appearance.
During Tormented, Matt's "Bert I Gordon was lucky his daughter was Paul Williams" absolutely killed me.
