So we're all agreed that what we see in the pictures looks cheap and home-made?
My personal opinion is that if so much of these episodes is green screen and digitally manipulated, it could maybe look cheap and home-made a little bit better?* Because, yes, those original sets and puppets looked not-so-good, but they were REAL. In physical space. And although they were cheap, you knew watching that they worked as hard as possible to make them look as good as they possibly could give the constraints they were working with.
Cheap is fine. Cheap and lazy is not.
*Hopefully I'm totally wrong, and the final product will be better than what all the still pictures and Turkey Day skits have shown. I am not asking for Netflix, movie, Sci-Fi, or even later Comedy Central quality. I'm asking for a non-wrinkled SoL bridge desk level of quality, basically.

I agree, in principle. But at this point, I just want a good riffing experience.

To me, it looks cheap and home-made by modern standards, yes. It's about what you'd expect to see from a high-end YouTube production. I would also prefer a real set, but that's pretty low down on my priorities list. I'm more concerned about the theater segments -- the riffing and the voices -- which I have concerns about. I get the feeling I'm either going to love or hate the new season, and it won't have anything to do with the sets or costumes.

I'm not particularly fussed about real sets given the conditions this season was executed in, DIY amidst a global pandemic which is only beginning to hopefully now finally cease or transition.
I was glad for the Netflix budget + bells and whistles when the show had them while some people complained, because I felt the show deserved the come-up after so many years of laboring under their own steam in the '90s. But budget has never been the draw of the show for me. The fact that they put on a show in the barn, so to speak, is pretty on brand with the franchise for me and how it's always been. Regardless, I'm not going to judge anything based on a shot of the three of them in front of a green screen.

Yeah, I don't mind green screens for the host segments. It's totally within the spirit of the show, and I mean technically they used green screens ever since the beginning. If they can use them for shadowrama, I don't see why they can't use them for the host segments. My only hope is that the host segments are more dynamic. Maybe they can use the green screen to their advantage and have more interesting things going on in the background.

I don't necessarily have an issue with that... but it's seems clear that the green screen version of the SOL could be a significant issue going forward.. It will be nowhere as bad as Season 1 or KTMA mad segments lame... but it won't be great.. I hope we get back to great with future seasons but willing to deal with it provided the host segment writing is good.. which was the problem with the turkey day 2022 segments.. That being said.. I was confused by your 'I'm asking for' comment... I thought you said you were not gonna watch the new season. Did you change your mind?

That was pretty rough. I think it does detract from the enjoyment of the show. But we shall see what they do. A lot of folks complained that the Season 11 host segments looked like it's green screen.. and I can see their point.. but if the new season SOL looks like Season 11 we will get by just fine.

"I'm asking for" is more a statement of what I would wish for, not of intent. I don't intend to watch them any time soon, but maybe someday, a few years down the road, to see if the writing improved. I am curious as to what they will look like, though. It's hard not to be.

Huh. I was assuming the first/last Friday of the month, or at least every 4 weeks. And it sort of conforms to that...except when it doesn't.
1301-3/4 1302-4/1 1303-4/29 1304-5/27 1305-6/10 1306-6/24 1307-7/22 1308-8/19 1309-9/2 1310-9/30 1311-10/28 1312-11/11 1313-?
