Seems like a really poor way of having a streaming service let me tell you I don't really see it as a streaming service. It's more of a delivery system for new episodes, with some bonuses tossed in. After all, I subscribed for the new content, not the stuff I already have. Exactly. I compare it more to what the Mads are doing, than something like Netflix. What's different with MST is that I'm getting (or will get) a virtual theater dedicated to showing new episodes or events w/ new shorts every two weeks, and a place to house and organize my purchases or freebies (which have also been downloadable). The new content is what I'm most interested in, and I pledged $85 to get a year's worth of that. Not too shabby when compared to the $147 I happily shell out for a year of Mads for a single show a month hosted by (usually) Youtube and a download. I own all the MST episodes on disc anyway, and I can stream many of them at a variety of places, from tubi to Shout to Youtube and more. I look at the 6 curated classics, grouped by a theme each month, as a cute addition - it's not why I signed on, but it's a fun little side dish.

They're still editing Friday's episode. Ivan said it on Reddit last night.
"Also: You're right that the plans changed over the past few months, but that's actually not because the Gizmoplex isn't ready: we're prepared to livestream it to all backers on March 4, as promised.
What we didn't anticipate accurately was that we'd still need to pickup certain elements for the first episode during our shoot a few weeks ago in February, so the first episode is still undergoing final edits as we speak."
(This is in response to me pointing out that the March 4th date was supposed to be the world premiere for everyone when it was announced on Turkey Day, not just for backers. Ivan's implying that it was only promised to backers. That is simply wrong.)

Yikes. Well, I don't think this is unheard of, even for big motion pictures, but still. I also agree about the world premier. You don't have to go back and look at exact dates and wordings, you just have to point out that NO closed beta test was EVER mentioned before last month so of course any dates were assumed to be public dates.

oh there are definitely are big movies that edit up to the very last days before sending it out into theaters in time for the release date. TV shows are even more notorious for this, most famously, of course, being South Park. They'll probably spend tomorrow making more last minute changes.

No, it's fine that they're working on it until the last minute - I think it shows they're trying to make it the best they can make it. I was more upset that Ivan took the time out of his super busy schedule (I mean, that's what they keep saying, how hard they are working and how small the team is and how they are all so very, very busy) to write long answers to me and a few others on Reddit whose comments weren't cheerleading about the new season and the Gizmoplex. Especially that this is the second time he's told me I'm accusing them of doing a "bait and switch." I'm not the one who changed the details about the March 4th premiere and made it a private, backer-only event - and not even for ALL backers. They are. It's not wrong, or hateful, to point it out.

About 30 hours left. Should be enough time to wrap post-production.

I mean you are very much correct in your observation about the change in plans or at least as we all understood them from all the communications up till recently.. edit: Found it.

- and not even for ALL backers. Wait, that can't be true can it? If I was a backer and couldn't watch tomorrows premier in some form tomorrow I would be furious.

There were two backer levels below the $35 level, which is the lowest level that gets you access to the premiere. So judging by the Kickstarter, there are about 3,000 backers who won't have access.

3,000 backers who had weeks to buy a discounted Gizmoplex pass since the beta announcement, not to mention last year post-KS. Suffice to say, if they didn't grab themselves a pass, they don't really care about having access to the premiere.

Ready for the new episode tomorrow! The app works just fine on the giant Sony in my tv room - love the auto-play! Also works on Roku, but there the auto-play doesn't work, despite being checked as on.
And your average RLM episode is five times funnier than anything from Season 12...

All my friends are now asking me how they can watch the live premiere tomorrow.. they aren't die hard mst3k fans and wouldn't back the kickstarter but if they could pay 10 bucks to watch the premiere tomorrow they would all be buying the ticket today. I understand why they are doing this.. but let's not pretend that there aren't plenty of folks who would like to join tomorrow outside of the die hards.. my non die hard friends are pretty bummed about it.

Throw a watch party for your friends, that's what I'm doing. And they don't have to pay 10 bucks. Or have a friend throw it and bring your Gizmoplex login.
Also we're talking about backers here. The live premiere is part of a reward promised to backers, not the public.
Another KS i recently backed was the new Vampire Hunter D graphic novel, which they are only making enough copies for backers, something they promised in order to encourage enough backers to fund the run. So when one of my friends asks where they can buy a copy, I have to tell them they had to back the KS. Same principle.

Why would they announce the Season Premiere publicly, at the end of the 2021 Turkey Day marathon, if it was only ever intended for backers? If it was a reward promised only to backers, they wouldn't have sold yearly Gizmoplex passes to the general public, and advertised them on Twitter and Facebook. I can understand it being available ONLY to Gizmoplex subscribers, but they also told people they would be able to buy daily Guest passes or monthly passes to the Gizmoplex. There are plenty of people who don't want to get locked into a yearly sub, or who don't have the money for it, who can afford a $10 or $15 event pass for the premiere and would want to buy one. MST3K is leaving money on the table by not selling tickets to the premiere event - unless there's a reason WHY they want a limited viewership. But back to the main reason why I'm even responding to you: Show me where, in the Kickstarter or the updates, it was stated that the premiere was BACKER ONLY (and $35+ backer only) before the January 31, 2022 update.
