Since this wasn’t started yet, I figured I would give it a go. I’m not “calling” discussion threads, so if someone wants to do the next one, go for it.
For the shorts, should we do individual threads, or a general shorts thread?

It sounds like shorts are being tied in with a special event, so individual threads, I think. That way you can discuss the show in its entirety. (The upcoming Manos tribute + short for example)

I have been watching MST3K on my Amazon Firestick since release. It came with the 18 episodes I bought during the Kickstarter. I also bought the Crawling Hand to test how easy it is to purchase. Tonight's premiere episode is already listed on the app, but will not start until tonight. I'm glad it is all very user-friendly.

I'm a bit fuzzy on this. There's a premiere livestream, which I assume will have some cast/Joel introducing it, maybe. And there's also going to be the actual episode itself, right? As a standalone video to just watch, right?
Or will the live stream premiere be the only way to watch at 8, with a standalone video coming later?

I don't know if this will help, but I found it in the Discourse forum. Ivan is clarifying how the episodes will be available:
So, here’s the current plan – though again, this whole year is an experiment in what works, and how to balance making everyone happy with maximizing our odds of making Season 14 and beyond, so it’s always possible this will change:
Each new episode and short will premiere in a livestream.
If your EVENT PASS includes access to a premiere, you’ll continue to have streaming access to rewatch the premiere livestream until your pass expires. (So, a 12 month pass means you’ll retain access to all of the livestreams until next March.)
If you get an EVENT TICKET – which we currently expect will be $10/ticket for essentially any livestream, whether it’s a premiere or a special event – you’ll have access to the livestream + 72 hours of replay access after it ends.
If your rewards included DIGITAL ACCESS TO SEASON 13, you’ll at least get streaming access to each standalone episode and short without the full livestream wrapped around it, probably within 48-72 hours of each event. (Basically, if the event is Friday evening, we’ll aim to release the stand-alone episode by Monday AM.)
If you didn’t get the “Season 13” digital reward, our plan is to make the new episodes available to purchase and rent in the Gizmoplex Video Store, starting no more than a week after the episode airs. Our current thinking is that BUYING will cost $19.99 for the first 3 months, and then will drop down to a lower price, similar to pricing on a lot of VOD movies. We’re still figuring out the price to RENT new episodes, but definitely want it to be reasonable, while still making sure backers don’t regret pledging to get them in advance.

Wait...are these things mutually exclusive? I got the 85/digital only tier, did that INCLUDE premieres or am I stuck waiting until the following Monday?
Edit: I checked my G'Plex account, I have an event pass. So I guess the 85/digital level is a part of premieres.

Samson vs the vampire women is a top tier of all time episode for me.. Looking forward to it but Ator was nowhere near as great as Cave Dwellers.. it just wasn't as bizarre.. so I will try to keep my expectations down.

I just realized, this is the first new, live, have-to-watch-it-when-it-comes-out premiere of an episode since the end of Season 10, 22+ years ago.

Well, you don't have to. Much like Joe Bob Briggs' The Last Drive-In on Shudder, it is available several days later. But it is very exciting for me, just as the Netflix drop was.
