No commercials in this rough cut - they hit intermission sign, it goes dark, then they come right back. Which was odd, they should at least slot in the moon and music of old, like on the classic era discs. It would make for a smoother transition. No credits or stinger yet. If they can't use the Netflix-era door sequence, they probably can't use the Netflix-era bumpers either. But I agree, they should have something there, even if it's just a Flash-animated recreation of the old spaghetti-moon.

By classic, I meant the old days, pre-Netflix like at the end of the Mighty Jack dogfood skit, where they cut away to the spinning spaghetti ball, which lead to the commercial in the broadcast version - but takes you from that, back to the movie on the DVD. It makes for a cleaner, more interesting move than just, fade to back, and come right back. Here they could do their version of that with the Gizmoplex, or your suggestion with the animated moon.

They need to make new Gizmoplex bumpers.

They created a rough cut of the episode for backers aaaaaaand, the sound level differences are even more pronounced. It's actually worse for me. ... In the update they said they are not hearing the sound level problem on their end and that's what's making it difficult to pin down (here, I'll invite you to my house so you can hear what I'm hearing, lol) I've seen parts of a fan created fix up. He even posted what he did, all in Audacity. It sounded perfect, like you wouldn't even think of bringing up sound levels if someone hadn't. It sounds like he mostly just used some Normalization and Dynamic Range Compression.

Has he mentioned sending that to Ivan? I mean if he/they can't hear it on their end, maybe send them a before and after video. "Here's what we are hearing, now here's my fix and how I achieved that"

I use Audacity pretty often. Easy to use, free, fairly basic. Highlight the sound, press a button for what you want, done. If some Joe Blow can fix their audio with 2 buttons, I'm not sure what the issue is and why they need surveys to pin it down. It makes me wonder if they have an in-house editor or are handing it off to a third party company that doesn't know 100% what it should sound like.
Its pretty easy. The mix is wrong. Normalize the levels of the 2 audio sources of movie and riffing. Done.
Its also possible they're watching their episodes on professional equipment and the speaker system is properly set up to equalize all the channels to it sounds good. They may need to throw their own episode onto a normal consumer flatscreen using its built in speaker to understand what people are saying.
Or...they think the quiet movie/loud riffing is correct and aren't understanding what people think is a problem.

I will add...Season 12 had this problem, too, somewhat. It wasn't as pronounced, but it made following the movie extra hard for me. Killer Fish stands out in my mind. I don't recall the problem in Season 11.
They may be mixing the audio for Dolby surround 5.1 or the like, with movie audio coming through 1 channel and riffing through others. And these channels aren't properly set up for defaults on how to come out of a non-surround system.

Or...they think the quiet movie/loud riffing is correct and aren't understanding what people think is a problem. This worries me sometimes. I remember when DVD commentaries first started and I was like, hey cool a kind of MST3K kind of thing, and then i tried a few and very often the movie audio was so low it was practically off, and I was like, what the hell, so what, we're all such fans of your movie we just know it by heart and we're all here just to listen to you guys talk? lame. I also don't know why they don't use more ducking in these things. When I was in high school or college and was watching something like Batman & Robin at the theater (that's right, I was there man) it was really Fing loud, but when my buddy reached over and made a joke in my ear I could hear him fine. His voice was in my ear and cut out the movie. That's what ducking does. Most riffs don't overcut dialogue anyway so the only thing you're ducking is the soundtrack, music, fx, and such.

The Kino DVDS that came with optional Rifftrax commentaries are like that. They’re mixed like an audio commentary, so the movie is very quiet.

I've seen some posts in the Facebook groups from people saying that they've been accepted into the G'Plex virtual theater beta test. I was under the assumption those were covered by an NDA, but maybe not.

I wonder if there’s some confusion on if they’re beta testers, or just gotten the regular admission that is supposed to be rolling out now. However, it supposed to go out by backing number, and I’m backer 51, so if it is going out by backer number not many of them could have gone out yet.

I was accepted into the theater test a few days ago, got it setup yesterday and played around with it. Far superior to the VHX site, enjoying it so far. I've seen nothing about an NDA, I'm just using it early. Nothing about sending reports back to them or anything.

I got my link to the theater today, it says Beta on the corner, and yeah, nothing about an NDA. Most of it isn't functional, but I did find my name on the wall of thanks, and have been watching bits and pieces of the episodes I own, just to see how they play (so far, so good)
Edit, oh and trying it out in the 2 different theater settings (rather than full screen) and that's kind of fun, even if it is a smaller screen on your screen, the seats and curtains give is a nice atmosphere.

Sorting of the episodes is my #1 favorite thing and is why I will use the Gizmoplex over VHX from now on. I own around 90 episodes and it's great to sort by season and host and see shorts vs movies. I also like the idea of rotating episodes each month. I own every episode on DVD, but it's nice to see a curated selection that I don't need to digitally purchase.

Yep, got my Beta e-mail today as I was one of the earlier ones who volunteered to Beta test it. Haven’t had time to do much more than get set up & look around.
