I've never thought of the Movie Jo Nights as movie riffing, exactly. It's closer to the concept of watching a movie with your friend(s) and making cracks about it, and pointing out all the stupid stuff to each other. Probably it's a fine hair to split, but to me a riff is more when you go in with the deliberate idea to crack as many jokes as possible. MJ watches and gets caught up, she wants to figure out why the movie was made the way it was, what's the point of doing that in the plot, etc. I enjoy it more on that level than I would if she was approaching it like Master Pancake does. Both ways are great, but one feels more casual, more just trying to have fun than doing a job.
I didn't mind Chris, but I hope that he's not there for every movie from now on. Maybe every 3 or 4 MJ could go it alone again, have it more like what drew me in, like I explained above. Just a personal preference, I'm fine with however it works out.

If you’re in the Twin Cities, Mary Jo is doing a one-woman show as a part of the Minnesota Fringe Fest, The Dog Show. It’s about her relationship with her dog, Seymour, before and after the death of her husband.
I caught it last night, it’s very touching. There are two shows left.
