I missed the netflix seasons in my ranking.
SCI FI ERA > Seasons 3-5(JOEL) > NETFLIX era > Rifftrax Live VODs > Seasons 5-7 (Mike) > KTMA > Season 2 > Season 1
All of these have highlights, low points, things I don't like, things that are special to those eras, etc.
I wish we had recordings of the modern MST3K live tours.. They were amazing experiences.
Season 13 will be an interesting one to rank because of introduction of Emily, Joel hosting again, the green screen use in the mad segments, improved riffing pace, etc etc. We shall see how it all shakes out.
The other dynamic that I didn't mention is the movies are the real stars of the show. When the movie selection is consistently great (for my tastes) then I enjoy the seasons more as a whole.

What did you think of Josh? I love Josh. They didn't really show S1 repeats on CC, so I didn't find Josh until I started downloading eps in the 2000s. I took to him right away. I love his dry delivery, and his servo characterization is great. I think he is genuinely funny too. In many of the KTMA eps, he is doing most of the work. And, it comes through in Cinematic Titanic too. I do see why he left the show though, and the show was probably better for it. But for those first 2 seasons his young energetic improv made the show in my opinion. (If you can't tell, I like Season 1 and KTMA pretty much as much as later seasons)

I wish we had recordings of the modern MST3K live tours.. They were amazing experiences. I enjoyed "The Brain" more than any of the Netflix episodes. I don't know if that's owed to the live setting or just the quality of the writing. But yeah, it's too bad there's no official way to have another look at that. But more than that, I really wish there was a professional, full-length capture of the two '90s live shows. Especially "World Without End," which is like the lost golden age MST3K episode.

I often say that the movies are the real stars of the show. The Brain is a glorious pick of a film. Seeing MST3K in large groups definitely ups the fun. You find yourself laughing more cause things that wouldn't get an out loud chuckle out of you might make a bunch of others laugh. I have run a local meetup group in the DC area and all the episodes we watched were more enjoyable and funnier in that setting than sitting at home with my wife and son watching the same episodes. Definitely would love to see a professional capture of the MST Alive 1992 shows! As well as the missing Cinematic Titantic Shows (I think they did an El Santo movie) and some of the Rifftrax live shows that they didn't get the rights to put out as vods like Mothra. Joel mentioned he was interested in making studio episodes of the recent MST3K live riffs... hopefully we will still get The Brain, Making Contact, Deathstalker II, etc They were all great although I skipped Joel's cheesy movie tour. Can't speak for those.
