Yeah...the lack of bad press is strange, though. I mean, MST isn't some major, super powerful organization that can shut things down. You know, the wife and I started watching that documentary series from earlier this year about Hefner/Playboy, and how Hef could basically call journalists and make stories disappear. MST is nowhere near that level of power or influence.
On the flipside, news organizations aren't nearly as interested in a minor player like MST, so nobody is out there digging for stories.
It is very surprising that there hasn't been some sort of credible anything, good, bad, or neutral, to come out of Begle's exit...
This whole situation is just endlessly fascinating to me. In our current age of transparency and visibility, it's surprising for something like this to be so shrouded in secrecy.

And for the record, whatever may have happened I do think the suggestion that Joel at his most mustache-twirling would fire Begle simply for 'diversity' is IMO pretty repellent. That was kind of my point. It's no more repellent than throwing some guy none of us know anything about, less even than your average public entertainment figure under the bus as some kind of sexual deviant. Lots of people in this thread were and still are acting like that is much more likely than him just being pushed out (for whatever reason good or bad ) and being upset about it.

That's fair--I'll admit, my own treatment of this as a thought-experiment/academic exercise has resulted in some unfair treatment of Begle (especially considering the only thing even resembling actual incriminating information are a couple of janky posts from a very shady seeming Reddit poster a month or two back).
So yeah, I'll cop to being irresponsible in how I've discussed the situation.
(That said, the mustache-twirling Joel, as fun as that is to picture, seems like the biggest stretch of all the possibilities, here)

(That said, the mustache-twirling Joel, as fun as that is to picture, seems like the biggest stretch of all the possibilities, here) It seems like a comfy go-to for some folks, is all. I agree with BoB that we shouldn't "go down roads" on Begle with no evidence. But that sword cuts both ways; if somebody approaches the new show from the premise of "I feel NuMST is fundamentally shady and/or sus, so I think it's likely they did something shitty to this guy", also based on no evidence, then I think the same principle applies. That's all. People can like or not like the new show, but the subliminal drumbeat about how if something happens it's inherently sketchy and reflects badly on the show at all times tires me out.

It's really as simple as that - MST is not that huge, the ensemble is not well known and frankly the touring players who have not been onscreen much/at all are even less well known even among the audience. Nor, frankly, do I think there are so many deep dark skeletons as, y'know, Playboy.

Doing the rewatch now, I hope Emily and Kelsey doing the makeout noises becomes a recurring gag.

I think the live watch puts a weird spin on things for me at times - finally got to watch this in full last night after a grueling few weeks IRL, and after initially finding the opening third slow when I watched on the original night (and then having to stop watching for the evening), I got to see it all and now think it's a really solid one and really strong riffing, especially after the first break. "Yeah, street gauze!"

Honestly I thought this movie was a fine choice, but maybe I have a stronger tolerance for Charles Band’s schlock than most. However where I feel the episode really failed was the largely weak riffs. With that said "Meanwhile, at Count Duckula's castle." did get a smile out of me though.
