Cripes they need camera work and not this digital zoom stuff.

I hate when they do that, same with the Mother Crabber song - please, no more zooms and tilts and whatnot.

ugh they really abuse how much we like stingers with these obscene slow credits

This is where my backer credit comes in - wish it was for an episode I really enjoyed. But hey, never thought I'd see my name on an MST experiment, so I'll take it and be happy.

guys, this episode is at least on par with the classic Gamera episodes abiet the humor has changed 30 years later.

Near the bottom of Season 13. Better than Robot Wars, marginally. The riffing in Robot Wars was worse, but Robot Wars had better host segments. So its close.
Really, really thin riffing. MAYBE 5-7 minutes of editing to the movie to bring it down to a more manageable 76-78 minutes would've helped. But there were long stretches of not much. And there were LOTS of references that I got, but just didn't hit for me. Not BAD riffing. Just...backround-noise-ish. Mild chuckles and maybe 2 big laughs.
Dunno. Didn't feel it.
And, like I said, I'd already seen this riffed by the MST3K vs Gamera guys a few years ago. And while they have some of the worst home-made host segments I've ever seen...their riffing of what I believe was the uncut movie was HILARIOUS and had great pacing. So...I dunno. I guess it CAN be done. They just didn't do it for me in this episode.
C/C+
Edit: Upon re-watch of that fan-made episode, their version of the movie WAS cut down a bit.

I don’t think any of the episodes in this season were “great”, but many were solid. I think this episode was solid as well but I have a special bias for it as I loved this movie as a kid and it’s where I got my user name from long ago. So I enjoyed it and I thought the last host segment was the best of the season thus far. (Agree with the criticism of the camera work. However.) All in all I had a fun time and I’m happy with it.

I say near the top. I didn't feel too much from it being too long other than those obvious kaiju shots where the humor was reflecting the fact that these scenes were too long or overly redundant.

This isn't even on par with Barugon (my previous bottom Gamera ep) Yeah, I'd rather re-watch the slog that was Barugon and the original black&white episodes over again this again. Easily. Hands down. Hell, I might rewatch that fan-made episode again right now to see the difference immediately. Just...need to skip past those terrible host segments...

I'll take a look later.
Next week is the Jackbox Showdown which is supposed to involve THREE Tom actors and THREE Crow actors??? So is it Bill Corbett? I can't imagine the delightful Ed Wynn will once again be part of it.
