Surprised there's no thread for this yet. Share your thoughts on the most recent episode, The Mask (in 3D)!
This was the first episode I attended the premiere for, and I had a lot of fun! This may be my favorite episode of season 13 so far. What do you think, sirs?

I really enjoyed it as well. Some great riffs, fun host segments, a cute new song that parodied a classic quite nicely, weird as hell movie with one of the darkest moments since the end of Manos. The 3D in the movie was pretty solid as was the surprise 3D host segment to close the episode.
And the post show was fun as well with the Halloween contest & everyone being in costume. I especially loved Emily's costume choice. Yvonne's was really good too. Jonah & Matt were both having fun as well. The folks who were featured & won the contest all did a pretty good job. Certainly better than anything I could pull off.

Had a blast with this one. Another very solid outing.
It's weird, I've felt like the whole season has been really solid so far. I think if I were doing number ratings, the lowest for me would be a 7, and the highest a 9, probably. I know a lot of folks have commented that it hasn't hit the highs of the show at its best, but I'm curious to see how the season ages. I'd say, yeah, nothing in the new season has touched my all time favorites, but I first met those all time favorites when I was younger and more impressionable and so they're kind of lodged in my brain in ways stuff doesn't do anymore (to whit--I can still recite words to songs from the 90s I didn't even *like* but struggle to sing along to new albums I love and have listened to 50 times).
Anyway...I guess it doesn't matter that nothing has been as good (to me) as GAMERA vs GUIRON or what not, because we've got a solid season of fun episodes with new and different textures, casts, etc... that will (and do!) mix in well with the classics depending on what mood I'm in.
Maybe this belongs in another thread, but as I watched THE MASK, I just kept thinking how much fun I was having watching it, and was looking forward to watching it again.

I think the only really weak entries are Batwoman and The Shape of Things to Come, and I need to revisit both - it's been a long summer and early fall for me. Mordrid picks up strong after a slow first theater segment IMO, and Robot Wars is just baseline work and has peaks and valleys. But Gamera vs. Jiger is one of the best kaiju riffs MST has ever done IMO, Munchie is very strong and Beyond Atlantis verges on a classic. I think people are also sleeping on Sumuru, which is really pretty good. Even Demon Squad, which I thought might be the real stress test for the season given its pedigree and contemporary era (much like people either love or hate Atlantic Rim while I'm somewhere in the middle), is a remarkably solid riff IMO.
Either way, yes, I think it is a very strong season, the best of the revival and I rate Season 11 pretty strong. The next real test will be if they can pull a holiday episode. I still haven't managed to get through The Christmas That Almost Wasn't more than once.

Guess I'll crosspost too lest the Mask unfairly becomes the least popular episode due to lack of post count: Yeah this was a solid episode with good host segments that got quite a few LOLs out of me, so thumbs up on this one, but cant help but think it could have been better. This movie was really throwing them some softballs with all the nonsense happening in the 3D limbo. Wasnt a fan of the 3D stuff but was really nice to get the OG experience of this movie and the MST3K experience at the same time. And man, so refreshing to finally get an old b&w again on MST3K. Btw still hate that the MST3K experience is now having to zip forward the precise 7-8 minutes so i can get one final laugh via the stinger, which was great on this one. Otherwise, i feel exhausted by the time the SNL farewell music winds down, the credits make me feel like i just sat through an entire concert of MST3K music renditions. I'd reiterate that the 3D sequences were giving them some gold; they should have had me out of breath and in tears, but i hope this shows that B&W movies belong more than ever in nu-MST3K. If I had to give a strict-thumbs-up-thumbs-down rating on all the episodes so far, id say about half get a thumbs up. The next episode should be a thumbs up given how much they have been hyping it up and I dont have much hope for the Christmas episode being a home-run

I'm going to watch this before Friday, I swear. It's just my motivation to watch this last half of the season has dropped like a rock after the last handful of episodes.

Audio in the theater seems low.
Smile-worthy lines until Segment 2:
We've all gotten drunk and shaved with a cat.
Yes, call that grown man's parents right away.
What an ugly baby.
Laugh out loud lines:
*The noise the bobble head makes*

It really is a good Tom Atkins costume.
Ok, the Mrs. Kelly bit is funny.
Pretty funny Segment 2.

Ok, starting to wear out the doodads joke...
Fairly strong riffing thus far into the episode. Strongest in awhile. Let's see if it lasts.
Segment 3: Good song. Very strong. Jonah's a little off in the singing, but good otherwise.
Oh...there's more song, huh? Sometimes...its ok to stop when you're ahead.
Smile-worthy jokes:
I know this one, the doctor is his mother.
Its Franken-David Byrne.
Bend...and snap.
Someone needs new brakepads.
"Pam" Your name backwards is Map.
Laugh-worthy jokes:
I'm made of meat and teeth!
"I am like an animal." Meow.
Is this what it feels like to chew Five Gum?
Turnover by Doctor Barnes, Pam picks it up and makes a run for the end zone!
Y'all making a movie?

Seems to be slowing down in the 2nd half.
Segment 4: Noir therapy. Cute idea. Servo with the trumpet is funny. Not particularly funny otherwise.
Smile-worthy jokes:
They're in a Jamiroquai video.
Somebody turn on the subtext titles.
You were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!
Laugh-worthy jokes:
Nightmare on West Elm Street.
Big LOL jokes:
GI JOE!!!

Riffing REALLY slowing down at the end.
Smile-worthy jokes:
Somewhere a Pizza Hut table is naked.
Look at those pants, he's got like 5 pleats working.
Did he stop to un-shave?
Laugh-worthy jokes:
I've got late-onset Abe Lincoln face.
And it just kinda...ends.
Segment 5: The skull...is there. I'm sure its better in 3D. Dud segment.
Overall...
The riffing is a BIG step up from....from,,,1310...Sumaru? Batwoman? They all blended together. But, like I said, big step up. Not many laugh out loud moments, but plenty of hearty chuckles and lots of smiles. So...that's something. Unfortunately the pace of riffs really slows down in the last quarter of the movie. The Frasier jokes really didn't land for me, I preferred "doodad", and thankfully it wasn't driven into the ground.
Host segments were good, bordering on just ok. Mixed bag.
Better than the prior 4-5 episodes. Solid B+.
