IN VINYL!I like this band. they are like a folk rock/shanty-playing band that sounds a bit like the Beatles, or maybe Procul Harum. but they have their own individual sound. These are indiepop songs I can get into. and I also found an original copy of this: ![](http://www.hank-dust.com/img/galerie/cover-artwork/doubletten/fz_for_the_money.jpg) of course, the cover is really the Mothers in drag, but the Sgt. Peppers parody cover was the intended cover. anyone else buy any new music lately?

Nellie Mckay: Get away from me. Uber-cool. She is not your usual 19 year old. She doesn't even sound (as in voice-talking) 19. She plays piano, and talks about being an alchoholic, even though she doesn't drink. Very interesting. Buy now.

Just got Layla and Wish recently. I've been digging the Cure for the past few months now, can't put the stuff down. Disintegration is the best album ever!
Clapton is really more bluesy than I thought, but maybe that's because of Allman's influence. Bell Bottom Blues is a great song from Layla.

"Brain Salad Surgery" by Emerson Lake & Palmer. The musical equivalent to an orgasm. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Oh Yeah, and new music I purchased: Pixies: Come on Pilgrim- 20 minutes of Bliss!! The Cure: Disinagration(SP)- Have yet to listen to it, but I like that picture song on the commercial. "I've been looking so long for these pictures of you. . ."

Let's see, even though I don't like much rap, I did recently purchase Jay-Z's "The Black Album" and the new Outkast album. Those guys are amazing.
As far as rock, excluding the Darkness, I haven't really found any other new rock worth listening to.

I recently purchased this album: ![](http://sonicplayground.gr/Photos/Reviews/gsbe%20-%20uxo.jpg) Godspeed You Black Emperor! - Yanqui U.X.O. (unexploded ordnance-landmines) I really like it. It's dissonant and experimental symphonic rock. If you're looking for a new progressive rock band, then check out GYBE! you just may enjoy it.

I recently fixed my copy of Cake - Comfort Eagle. Great CD. I recommend it if you are into laid-back music.

Just bought Aerosmith’s new album “Honken on Bobo.” While that has to be one of the worst titles for an album that I’ve ever heard, it’s the best album Aerosmith’s put out for a while. Every song on the album is a blues song, and while they’re not all great, a few of them truly do kick ass. Hopefully they’ll quit now before they make another album like Just Push Play. Blah.

I've been listening to Depeche Mode all my life. And I guess most people think "Just Can't Get Enough" when DM is mentioned, and while their 80's stuff is great, it's really 86>98 that they, and I, appriciate. Songs like "Black Celebration", "Enjoy the Silence", "In Your Room", "Useless", "Dream On", and "I Am You" are great examples of these guys, who have been around for about 25 years.
Which is not to say I don't enjoy other music. I stay away from the 80's and 90's.
The Clash, The Church...Echo and the Bunnymen, all great. Oh wait...those are all bands from the 80's....well...I meant like Eagles 80's.

The Clash, The Church, Echo & the Bunnymen... testify!!! Actually, Echo was the first concert I ever went to, back in 1986 or 1987, right before Pete de Frietas died. And I've loved Depeche Mode since the early '80s, although I didn't buy anything after "Violator," and I got upset when Martin Gore did a pretty lame cover of the awesome "Loverman" by Nick Cave last year. But I usually like Martin's stuff. Haven't heard Gahan's solo record, but I've heard good things about it.
I feel old, though, 'cause I bought The Cure's "Disintegration" when it came out (in 1989?). My buds and I wanted "Lovesong" to be our senior song (I graduated in 1990), but we lost out to "Me So Horny" (seriously).
I don't remember the last CD I bought -- probably David J's "Estranged." He used to play bass in Bauhaus and in Love & Rockets. His solo stuff is really cool, kinda alt-country and jazzy with really twisted lyrics. I also bought a couple of gothic rock compilations.
