Big Ben Folds fan here. Saw him live here at school, it was incredible.
Any BF or Ben Folds Five fans here?

I'm a huge BF fan. I've worn out my copy of Rockin' The Suburbs. It's about time for a new studio album soon. Heard any rumors?

I'm more of a Tool fan myself. Brilliant band. A Perfect Circle isn't too bad either, but Tool's probably the best in my opinion.

Sampo: Ben Folds is awesome. I love his stuff - let's hope for a new album!
Unsavory: Tool is great, too.

Forrest, I believe MST3K and Rush go together like peanut butter and chocolate.
Speaking of which, the new Rush in Rio DVD is incredible.

Can I send a shout-out to the Psychedelic Furs? As a former child of the '80's (actually, a young adult of the '80's...) I remember a lot of dreck on the radio but the Furs were one of my favorites -- especially "Love My Way," and "My Time." Reminiscing about the past -- EEEK, I am now officially old! BTW, you kids get off my lawn!

Ummm, excuse me. Doesn't this subject belong in the off topic/spam section? A music discussion isn't spam ,but definately OT. Huge music fan here. Prefer 80's music, but there's a few good ones out today (mostly European). Dislikes? Really don't like Coldplay.

The SOL discussion area is intended for off topic discussion, which would include music, sports, etc.

How dumb of me. I just saw the title SOL and assumed this was not for off topic. Upon reading it more carefully, I realize that it IS for off topic discussion. I guess I got confused with all the talk about Freedom Fries, Cheetos, etc.....

I'm a big Ska and Punk fan myself. Favorite bands include: - Dropkick Murphys I don't know alot of the bands you mentioned but the Dropkick Murphys are cool! I'm a fan of ska too. Have you heard the Dance Hall Crashers? They have a female lead singer. They didn't get sold out to mainstream crowds like No Doubt did (although I do like some No Doubt). Also I've started listening to some Latin ska. It's kind of funny to hear them singing in Spanish.

I could not agree with you more. But you forgot R&B. Most music kinda sucks, my fav band is Led. Zep God, what STRONG opinions you guys have. I like Led Zepplin AND techno. I do agree that most of the new music sucks these days. The R & B is really bad right now. But really, the 80's had some good R & B. But they really didn't put much guitar in their music. It's interesting to hear someone like Living Color. They are all black musicians, but they play hard rockin' music.

There are various kinds of techno, and while I personally don't listen to any of it, I think some is respectable and some is not. The kind that sounds like video game music from the 16-bit era is NOT acceptable in my opinion.
....just as long as nobody bad mouths Tool.
