I kinda like the techno in the Matrix movies. Yes, I saw The Matrix Revolution last night. The music during the ending credits RULED. Yes, there are some really cheesy techno songs. But some of them totally rock.

Any Dylan fans here? How about Neil Young? I read that Neil is fond of MST.

I'm an old punk. Gimmie some Superchunk, Dead Kennedys, Buzzcocks, Gang of Four, Dictators... Went to every Lollapalooza except the final one. Still can deal with Lawrence Welk on occasion. No country music though, unless it is very old and sounds like they recorded it with a microphone in the bathroom. Then it's cool. Sorry Forrest - no Rush. Once traded a Rush album for a candy bar.

The R & B is really bad right now. Sure, R&B is good for like romantic dinners and stuff, but why blast it out the window in the car? I dunno, I must be thinking of the wrong R&B. Yes, Tool rocks. A Perfect Circle is pretty good too. I would take Bad Religion over them (or anyone, for that matter. Such good lyrics!!!).

Wow, Forrest. I'm not sure I want to know why the hatred for Rush, but I'm sure it's not for their musicianship. Did Geddy Lee murder your dog or something? It sure seemed like our friends on the SOL were fans, judging by the number of references.
No biggie. As long as I'm entitled to hate just about every MTV, manufactured, so-called pop star.
And ator, I agree. I'm constantly amazed at what gets categorized under label of "R & B". As far as I'm concerned, Ray Charles, Sam & Dave, and Stevie Wonder are R & B.
Those crazy kids with their loud music, I tell ya.

Did Geddy Lee murder your dog or something? Ahh, NOW I get that riff that Crow says in Final Sacrifice: "They've stumbled upon Geddy Lee's birthplace!" LOL. I've never heard Rush. What would they be categorized under? Alternative, vis a vis Third Eye Blind?

I... um... wow, I don't know if I should say this...
I didn't like Tool... I worked for a hard rock station here in Ohio, and we got to meet the band. Maynard stood behind a white wall with backlights all round him, so only his silluette was showing, and said hi to the people we took to meet n greet him. We were like, "Huh?!"... then we saw them on stage, where he preceeded to do that for half the show. I think that was about 2 years ago. It's cool man, if you like Tool! No worries about that! I'd certianly not bad mouth someone's taste in music! But, I'd take a Puddle Of Mud/Disturbed concert any day.
No hard feelings? ;D

I love the musicle references in MST. Like in Teenagers From Outer Space when a guy gets out of the ship with an oblong box and Servo (I think) says"Cool, they have Marshal amps". Good joke for guitar players. I also love the musicle opinions like in Terror At Party Beach when a guy dumps a 50 gallon drum in the ocean and Servo says"I hope Paula Cole is in that". Absolutely.

I don't know alot of the bands you mentioned but the Dropkick Murphys are cool! I'm a fan of ska too. Have you heard the Dance Hall Crashers? They have a female lead singer. They didn't get sold out to mainstream crowds like No Doubt did (although I do like some No Doubt). Also I've started listening to some Latin ska. It's kind of funny to hear them singing in Spanish. Latin ska? I gotta check that out. Any bands in particular? No, I haven't heard of the Dance Hall Crashers. I'll have to check them out too. It's great to hear a girl voice in punk, so I wonder what that would be like in ska!

Rush is a Canadian rock trio (Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart), which explains the apropos riff in the Canadian "Final Sacrifice". They've been around since the mid-70s, and are best known for being quite proficient instrumentally and quite shrill vocally (Geddy). They were forerunners of the progressive rock sound, and you'd probably find them on your local classic rock station.
When Mrs. sampo first heard the all male trio, she commented, "You know, I don't really like it when rock bands have a female lead singer." A fair critique.

Good joke for guitar players. quote] Um, if you look closely and upside down, that actually was a Marshall amp. Or wait, maybe I'm thinking of the multi-channel mixer. That WAS a mixer. And to Sampo about Mrs. Sampo's opinion of female leads, my husband, Mr. Interoceter, and I were listening to a Bread CD the other night and he says to me "Didn't she do 'some song I've never heard of' too?" I looked at him a long moment and then said, "This is a guy, they're all guys." Then I got the raised eyebrows and a "yee-ee!" from him. So maybe it was a 70's thing. Look at the Bee Gees too. But not for very long. Has anyone listened to To My Surprise yet? Project out from the drummer of Slipknot. Only ask because I know the lead guitarist/singer.

Am I the only person here that likes Rush? Maybe you don't care for their recent stuff. But have you heard their first album? Especially the song "Working Man". It totally ROCKS. They have definately changed over time. Because I'm a girl, I kind of appreciate the female-like male vocals. A very distinctive sound. I enjoy hearing "Tom Sawyer" occasionally, because it takes me back to my junior high days.
