I remember reading in the Episode Guide for Santa Claus Conquers the Martians that BBI mentions that Leonard Maltin's review points out that Milton DeLugg did the music for the film, but no one knows who the hell he is. I didn't either until today. At the end of the Thanksgiving Day Parade as the credits scrolled up, I glimpsed under the heading "Musical Director" was the name Milton DeLugg. I thought my mind was playing tricks on me, because of the fact that the credits were scrolling over Santa Claus, but a second glance confirmed it. Now the mystery has been solved. Ironic to find this out on "Turkey Day" don't you think?"

Hmm, kinda interesting. So, the guy is still alive after making that painful christmas movie?

According to imdb.com, Milton DeLugg was the bandleader for the Tonight Show in the mid 60s. (The Steve Allen years)
I imagine that's where Maltin heard of him.

Wow....From the Tonight Show to Santa Claus Conquers The Martians to the Thanksgiving Day Parade....
That's a big step back and a normal step forward, I think. His glass is half full.

I'm pretty sure that Milton DeLugg was the band leader on "The Gong Show". I remember Chuck Barris referring to Milton DeLugg and the Band with a Thug. That was the only other place I've heard of the name.

Yep, Milton DeLugg was the bandleader for "The Gong Show"...THE greatest game show ever, and its a sin that Game Show Network is now airing crap like Millionare and Weakest Link, but not this. I find it odd that with all the Gong Show references through MST3K's history (and it definately had to be a favorite of the BBI gang as they were growing up), that, according to the "Santa Claus Conquers The Martians" write-up in the ACEG, Kevin Murphy never heard of him. (And has some quite harsh words for him, too!)

Huh. Makes me wonder where Kevin Eubanks will be in 40 years.
