I was reading a review for Bloodlust and found out that most of Season 6 episodes were picked by Frank. Who picked other seasons episodes. I also read that Mary Jo Pehl picked Hamlet.

From reading the Amazing Colossal Episode Guide, it looks like Frank was the finder of movies during his tenure, and Mary Jo took that role when Frank left (after season 6).
However, it seems that the finder would bring in multiple films for the writing staff to screen and choose from. It sounds like writers would sometimes fight for a movie to use, then regret it later. (This was the case with Kevin Murphy and Radar Secret Service).
If anyone knows anything else, feel free to correct me.

Interesting topic!
Has anyone noticed that Servo, Crow, and Joel/Mike each enjoy certain movies over another? Example, Crow (Bill Corbett) seemed to be laughing his ass off in The Undead. Mike couldn't stop laughing at Riding With Death, and Servo seemed to loathe Overdrawn more than the other two.

I don't know if that's an intentional thing, but I can definitely see how the lab rats would've been written that way.
I mean, Crow is a wisecracker. Most of his comments are sharp and witty, but don't really stick at the things that they stab. Servo, though, he's an emotional sarcastic. His comments tend to be more forceful and direct.
Long story short, if I'm an MST3K writer trying to decide which character would have which lines, I would definitely want to have Servo do the most "movie bashing" while Crow would have the most "general riffing," etc. That type of thing could conceivably lead to subconcious movie-genre preferences for each character in the on-screen world.

So it seems that Frank was the man from seasons 2-6.
Also I am guessing that in KTMA they used what ever movies were avaliable that the station bought.
What about season 1.

Not sure about that. It's possible that The Comedy Channel just gave them movies and said, "Do this one." I read somewhere that Mike Nelson called CC and asked them if they could have a movie other than The Robot Vs. The Aztec Mummy, for instance.
But I don't have a clue outside of that.

Luckly I am getting the ACEG sometime this week. But this is what I think for each period. Seasons 7-10 were Mary Jo's picks. Seasons 2-6 were Frank's picks (although the Sandy Frank period in season 3 may have been suggested by Joel, Kevin, Mallon or Trace.) Season 1 was all public domain until Project Moonbase (although 104 was not public domain it was produced last). That was probably because Comedy Central didn't want to pay for Sci-Fi movies that they wouldn't use unriffed. Season 0 was probably just what KTMA had to offer and they would use the movies unriffed too.

That sounds probable.

The ACEG did mention that when they found out the Sandy Frank catalog was available for season 3, they got all excited. So somewhere, someone was hoping to redo the Gamera shows from the KTMA days. Maybe they figured that since they'd already done them, the writing time would be easier.
I get the sense that it was the old guard (not Frank) that was behind the choosing of the season 3 Japanese episodes.

I've got the Amazing Collossal Episode Guide somewhere (I was lucky enough to find it in a Barnes And Noble about a year ago), and it does mention the episode selection process. Frank definitely did the job for Season 6, but I can't recall if it mentioned who did what for seasons before then.
