My "Eegah!" order from Deep Discount came in today ($11.94, free shipping), thus becoming my first official MST DVD purchase (Yeah I know, but I've always been slow to buy the newest toys).
Pretty menues and chapter graphics, I love the feature with the Crow icon which takes you to the missing scenes. I thought the bit with Arch Halls radio going off could have provided some nice riffs
I wonder if the gang wrote riffs for those cut scenes. You know, when they first watched them. Or did they decide on the cuts before working on the jokes? If it was the former, that could have made for a nice extra. The deleated scenes with comments from someone at BBI on why they were cut, what -if any- riffs were considered for those scenes.
I only wish Rhino would have added this feature on some of the other episodes. While I'm not so hot to see Eegah! unmsted, it was cool to see those extra scenes.
100% improvement over the video tapes, Now I wish more than ever that they'd release more of them and add a few extras, and GET the freaking stinger for Atomic Brain for God's sake! (and make them available individually too. I'm not real hot on Box sets. I know it's anal but I'd rather have the cases with the nice cover art that I can place in the book shelf in numerical order)
Please Rhino... Santa Claus, Day the Earth Froze, Girls Town? ?? I said please.

I love the DVD eps, because you can hear the slightest sounds that they make, or say. Joel tries to hide his laughs, and you could hear a couple quiet wheezes from him at a couple riffs. I MUST be obsessed....

I have yet to purchase a DVD of MST3K, and probably won't until I am twenty. It is Christmases fault.

Slow to buy new toys? Well, I just now purchased a DVD player. I was one of the last people on the face of the earth to buy a CD player. I still dont own a home computer.
Part of the reason is I'm a starving artist, so I wait for the prices to come down. Also I don't want to jump the gun on new toys that might not catch on, like Betamax players or laserdiscs.
So I'm usually the last (old) kid on the block to get into the new technologies.

I wonder if the gang wrote riffs for those cut scenes. You know, when they first watched them. Or did they decide on the cuts before working on the jokes? They decide what to cut first, then riff. (See: Infamous Moments/ Sidehackers/Rape Scene.) They likely thought that scene of Eegah ripping Roxy's blouse and pawing her was a li'l too intense.

Yeah, that was a weird scene. Eegah's giving a heavy massage, then cut to his goofy face. The other cuts I can see for time (Those few seconds in the opening sequence)
The drunk might have made for a few laughs, and the Radio scene which I mentioned. But for time, something had to go.

I just happened to buy all the DVD eps and the boxed sets at the local Suncoast store because they had a special where everything MST3K was 50% off. So, I got all the single DVD's for 7 bucks and the boxed sets for 25 bucks. That rules!!! Of course that was about 6 months ago, but, it still rules. I have to admit that these are great quality recordings and the deleted scenes and animated menus make them well worth whatever amount of dough you fork out for them.

50% off? Wow. I wish I would have known that.
The second volume (along with #4 of course) is one that I want. Pod People and Cave Dwellers are the big attractions for me in that one.
But, while I want to support MST, I don't know about ones like "Hellcats" or "Batwoman". Those arent episodes I watch very often, so it's not like my Rhino tapes are going to wear out from too much use. And the collected volumes 1 and 3 are kind of the same (plus Rhino not bothering to get the stinger for the DVD version of Atomic Brain bugs me. The cheap and lazy bastards! lol)

Yeah, the only reason I bought some of them was just to have them in my collection. The only one I had on tape (from Rhino) was the Gunslinger. I had just never bothered to buy any before that really. I had seen them before on CC and then I just traded for other non-released episodes and bought those because I needed something to watch and they were ridiculously cheap. I payed the full price for Vol. 4 the other day though. I love every episode on it even though 3 of them I have on tape from Sci-Fi. They added a lot of stuff. Well, I'm gonna get back to watching Rocketship X-M.

Speaking of Eegah - has anyone read the Agony Booth article on that movie? They make mention of the rumor that Arch Hall Sr. and Marilyn Manning were lovers at the time of the filming, which makes the cave pawing scene, with Roxie draped across her father even creepier. And the whole issue of making your girlfriend the love-interest of your son's character is fairly nasty too...
Also I just watched Eegah this past weekend - did anyone notice that Ray Steckler (Of TISCWSLABMUZ fame) was an extra in it - I believe he was the kid making out by the umbrella that Eegah throws into the pool.
And, while I'm here - here's a plug for the Agony Booth - if you haven't seen the sight, you need to go. Some very funny movie reviews are in there. Many MST movies as well - my favorites were Monster a Go-Go and Red Zone Cuba.

On second thought - maybe Ray Steckler was playing the snake...
Eegah is one of my favorites.
