Anyone planning on attending the MST3K Symposium at Cobb's Comedy Club in San Francisco on Sunday, January 11? I've never seen the Brains, and it might be a while before Mike Nelson, Bill Corbett, and Kevin Murphy are under the same roof talking about MST3K at the same time. Tickets are $20. Here's the URL for those interested. www.sfsketchfest.com/sfsf_04/mainframe.html

Damn, I wish I was on leave at that time. I would definitely go to that.

Thanks for the tip Alleged. I'm in Sacramento, not to far. I might make it.

The more I think about it the more I'm looking forward to this. Should be a good event!
God help me but I'm bringing my wife (who doesn't understand the MST3K obsession) and my parents (who love stand-up and Cobb's Comedy Club but know nothing about MST3K).
Now, I need suggestions for questions to ask during the Q&A....I was thinking about asking about the mythical Joe Don Baker/BBI feud....any better suggestions?

If any other board members are going it might be nice to hook up, just to say hello. Alleged, do you know if they allow cameras in there?

The Cobb's website didn't address this, at least it wasn't prominent enough to overcome my attention span issues.
My guess is that they probably don't, but I emailed them to find out. I'll let the board know.
'Course, if cameras are allowed I'll post some pictures.

They emailed me back - cameras are ok after the symposium, if the artists don't object. I'll see if I can get some decent photos and post them.

Go with the first reply. It's more lenient.

I didn't save the message, but they basically told me the same thing that they told Phantom: no cameras allowed. In my email, they did say that after the show was ok if the performer allowed it.
I'm bringing the camera anyway, hopefully I'll get a chance for some photos after the symposium.
Is anyone else from this group going?

I'd love to, but I live in Indiana and have college tuition to pay for.
Remember us, those unfortunate who can't attend! Remember us!

Another good question would be about Sandy Frank movies.

It was well worth the trip! New news: more DVDs this year once "rights clear", Mike is doing a commentary on "Reefer Madness", and is writing a screen adaptation of "Death Rat" (but admitted he hadn't thought it through that well yet).
All admitted that they would start up MST3K again with some $$$, but Bill Corbett said (and I agree) that the endless repeats on Sci-Fi cheapens the brand, so a little hiatus wouldn't be a bad thing.
Funniest line: in a question about the Sci-Fi Channel website, Mike said he hadn't visited since they "fired his ass".
All gave a monologue on the state of bad movies. Mike posed that it was the work of monkeys, Bill gave a very detailed and very funny blow-by-blow of "The Fifth Element", and Murphy gave an open letter to Ben Affleck.
More details later.

A movie version of Death Rat....that would definatly be on top of my must see list. Especially if Mike's writing it.
