Thank you Bart Fargo - that opening scene from Atomic Rulers was exactly the scene I remembered. I don't know why I thought it was an MST experiment. Thank you for posting that video link.

As Torgo suggested maybe you saw the Rifftrax version of Attack from Space? That same basic robot conference scene starts off that film too.

Hello. I'm trying to identify an episode where a riff is made about a Congressman who shot an intruder in his home with an unlicensed gun despite being a gun control advocate himself. Any know this story and which episode it is from?

I might be wrong, but I think the episode could be Mitchell.

MITCHELL!
Not according to IMDB, but is that not Adam Rich as the "buzz off, kid"?

I just finished watching Women of The Prehistoric Planet. I just realized something I did not notice before and some help is needed. In the end Joel and the bots are reading letters from fans. One of the letters refers to an episode that did not air yet, but I guess the order of the episodes are out of order. I believe the episode mentioned in the letter was Robot Holocaust which is episode 10, but it was discussed as already shown in episode 4. Am I missing something?

Episode 4 was the last episode produced and aired in season 1. I think what happened was that Best Brains had trouble licensing the movie. So, they put in on the back burner and produced the other episodes. When they did eventually get the rights to the film, they were on episode 13 but called it episode 4 to fill in the gap earlier in the season. You'll notice on the MST3K broadcast schedule that every rotation of season 1 episodes after the first one airs Women of the Prehistoric Planet as the fourth episode. So, I do think it was intended to be episode 4, but some segments were filmed after other ones were already produced.

I think that was a film rights issue as well.

Gorgo, Merlin's Shop, and Blood Waters of Dr. Z were the three Sci-Fi Channel episodes that developed rights problems. Gorgo infamously only aired twice on its premiere date and wasn't officially seen again until the DVD release. Dr. Z encountered problems from Don Barton after its premiere but SFC must have sorted that out because it was rerun a few times in the early 2000s.
Merlin, on the other hand, had its problem prior to broadcast, delaying it until about a month after the series finale. However, unlike Women of the Prehistoric Planet (104), Merlin was taped and probably finished early in season 10. 104 is the only episode we know of that was shot much later in its season but given an early number.

The font makes it look like one of the older 1940's flicks as a complete guess. Maybe one of the serials.
Is there a list somewhere of Mst3k episodes that have appeared on Comet?
