Which of these two episodes do you like better. For the most part, people seem to enjoy Megalon more by quite abit, but there is a contingent that believes The Sea Monster is the superior episode. Mighty Jack is one guy who says that.
To be honest, I never liked the Sea Monster until a few weeks ago when I watched it again. Now it's up in that ****1/2 range. However, Megalon is probably my second favorite episode, so it wins out there. But I definately think I'll like Sea Monster even more next viewing.

Sea Monster. I thought the crew was very out of it for the first half of Megalon, with only a few true gem zingers along the way. The final fight was a genuine blast though.
Sea Monster was just more consistant to me. And maybe my favorite Joel episode yet.

I think of them as 2 halves of one great whole. They both have great host segments- Megalon has Orville Popcorn, SM has the Geneology Bop. They both start slow but get great when the monsters show up. If forced to choose, I'm going to go with Megalon, but only because the monster fight scenes are goofier.

How many times have we done this? As always I'm going to go with Megalon.
Great episode...one of the best!

Megalon is the better of the 2 MST3K versions Godzilla films. Sea Monster is the WAY better of the 2 non MST3K versions of these films. Sea Monster was made during the classic days of Godzilla fans. It was the first of 2 shot on remote islands to cut down the budget of city destruction.

Well, I really like both. But megalon wins out. They both have great points and I love to watch both but, Megalon wins because of the end song (as you can see by my avatar) and the easy to make costume invention exchange.

was the first of 2 shot on remote islands to cut down the budget of city destruction. First of three actually. Even though most of it was stock footage, all the monster scenes in Godzilla's Revenge took place on an island as well as Sea Monster and Son of Godzilla

First of 2, as I wasnt counting Godzillas revenge as it was mainly stock footage/ and Godzilla's Revenge was a boy's dream about being on Monster Island. Stock footage galore as the SPX man passed away(Eiji Tsuburaya) I only count 2 as far as Pacific Island Adventures go. I mean real Pacific Isalnd Adventures. Not Monster Island. I shouldve specified a little more. The boy also lives in an urban city in G's Revenge. If this was a follow up to Destroy All Monsters than you can say it took place after the year 1999 which goes into a weird area. The 1974 Godzilla vs. MechaG also had minimal city destruction & the final battle took place on an island type of setting. Megalon wins the MST3K better of the 2 choices award as it is way more cheesy than the Sea Monster. Sea Monster is a way better movie than Megalon. Megalon is a way better MST3K experiment. Megalon was also part of a Saturday Night Live show which ran it down to 60 minutes. Considered by many G-fans as the worst of the Godzilla series. Megalon got the MST treatment which it deserved..

Stock footage galore as the SPX man passed away(Eiji Tsuburaya) I knew that. I've been studying Godzilla since I was 3. But it took place on an island and that's what I was pointing out, and somewhat decent portion of it (the Gabara scenes) weren't stock footage.

I still dont count it as part of the south sea series, which Jun Fukuda directed. I have been study Godzilla around the same age. My 1st was Smog Monster then Megalon. What a way to start, huh I knew Gabera wasnt stock footage. Gabera was also the name of the main bank robber that the kid was running & later fought at the end Would Godzillas Revenge made a good MST experiement ??
